New (to this board) with a question
Hello!
I post regularly on the Clomid board, but I thought since I was just diagnosed, I would meet you all over here!
After two months of treatment with my OBGYN, I switched to a RE who did an u/s and confirmed that I have Polycystic ovaries. The rest of my blood tests came back normal (including my insulin), but my 17 alphahydroxy progesterone (17OHP) came back elevated twice. My RE sent me to a regular endocronologist who again did a whole bunch of tests (I am waiting for those.) I certainly have the symptoms of full blown PCOS (weight gain, skin tags, annovulation) My question is...having an elevated 17 OPH test...could that indicate that I do have an insulin imbalance?
In the last year(since off of BCP), I have gained 20-25 pounds. Is that normal??? For a while I thought I was going crazy gaining all this weight and for no reason...I didn't even get to enjoy the food to make me gain weight! Then I thought it was a medication I took (steriods) to help me get rid of a terrible lung infection, now I think PCOS could be a possibility...What do you think?
When my RE feels comfortable with treating me, he will give me Clomid, metaformin and do an IUI. Is this normal treatment?
I know this post is long...sorry. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
