Default new to board/ PCOS

Ladies,
I have posted on these boards before, but never this board. Here's my story:
DH and I tried for almost two years (had one MC) and decided to take a break.... of course that is when I got pg with my DS (now 11 months). I was on CD70 and no meds when he was conceived. I decided that while I'm young, I keep getting older everyday so we didn't want to wait to try for number 2. Now during the first attempts, I was given clomid and it never worked... so that's what they started again for me. I am now on clomid 100 mg and metformin (can only bring myself to 1000 mg a day without being totally wasted from nausea). Since the health care I have is TERRIBLE (i'm in the army) I'm actually paying out of pocket for a specialist to finally get monitering... that is why after almost 3 years combined of treatment, I was diagnosed yesterday at my day 14 follie scan with PCOS (I had between 10-14 follicles in each ovary....largest was 8mm). So I guess I'll be hanging around with you girls if that's all right

Laura and others,

I'm right there with ya. DH and I have been TTC baby #1 for about 2 years now although I've been off BC since 2001. We saw a specialist for the first time 2 weeks ago. Everything looks great for DH (just call him the 98 million sperm man ). Not so great for me. I had my day 3 endocrine profile done and my testosterone levels are elevated. The next day, I went in for a preantral follicle count/sonogram and I had a BUNCH of follicles on my ovaries with very enlarged ovary mass (6-8 is normal, mine were 18). So now I'm on BC to get my levels normal as well as glucophage (metformin?) to reduce ovary mass. I'm disappointed that I have to be on BC for the next 3 months--seems counter productive (I WANT to get pregnant, not prevent it!). I guess the next step after this will be clomid. The good thing about having PCOS is my insurance company will cover most of my diagnostic testing, just not the IUI or IVF, if necessary.

Any advice is appreciated!

Kristie
