Hi my name is Haley. I have been on SK for a while mostly posting on the IVF board. I just had a miscarriage and desperatley want to have a second child. I am afraid now. I am wondering if I miscarried because of my hypertension. So I want to lose some weight and get my blood pressure down before I TTC again. I have tried the Atkins diet and that to me is just pure torture, also I want to watch my sodium intake and it seems like everything you eat on Atkins is loaded with sodium. Has any one tried Weight Watchers and had success. I have read that low carb is the best but I didn't know if anyone had luck with different diets. Thanks so much I appriciate it.

Haley, My friend doesn't have any fertilty issues but her and her dh recently lost so much weight with weight watchers. From what I understand it is not a diet but a change of portions and what you eat. She lost about 30 lbs and he lost about 55lbs. They look and feel great and have kept it off for almost a year now. She got pregnant in November with #2.

Good luck and join us on the chatty thread.

Hi Haley,

Welcome to the board, I'm pretty new here myself. I'm moving onto IVF soon. I just wanted to say that I am very sorry for your recent loss and I hope you will see your very soon. As far as the diet, I had really good luck with South Beach. I'm not really overweight but I wanted to lose about 10lbs. It did the trick. Its very similar to Atkins except it focuses on low fat protien and lots of veggies. It goes in three phases, the first is pretty strict but its only two weeks. Then you slowly add healthy carbs back in and whole grains. I found it super easy and I'm not a disciplined person. There's tons of info online. Good luck to you and again welcome.

Jennifer
