Hi I am 23, and although I was diagnosed with PCOS at age 19, I never really did anything about it. Now I have just been re-diagnosed and am starting metformin 250mg a day for one week and then that amount will double each wk if all goes well till I reach the desired dosage of 1500mg per day!
So heres my questions, if you can answer any or all that would br awesome!
1) My glucose tolerance test showed that my levels are all fine, so I dont think I have insulin resistance, and all my bloodwork came back 'essentially normal' with only low cholesterol and triglycerides. If thats the case wont Metformin be harmful to me if it is going to reduce my blood sugar level again where its not needed?
2) Does anyone know why my cholesterol and triglycerides would be low? With my latest weight gain (11kgs over 8mth period, very abnormal weight gain for me) I thought I would have high chol....is this a part of PCOS?
3)How do you tell if you really are O? I get posistive opks (really late but they usually come), but Dr says I havnt been Oing...I will surge but then the follicle fails to release

Do I just continue as normal and hope for the best or should I demand that I want to start Clomid straight away as that is our next step if Met doesnt work. I just figure if Clomids likely to make the O actually happen then why are we wasting all this time with the Met? Surely Met would be great for ppl planning to ttc in the future, but for us ttcers that have been trying for mths (7th cycle for me, who knows how many mths) why not put us straight onto Clomid??
Thanks...I think this post was also a bit of a vent for me

Any info would be great, Thanks in advance!!!
