Default Mystery Diagnosis & PCOS

They had the story of a woman who went TWENTY years with every single symptom I've ever read about PCOS.

The way the show advertises itself, it is supposed to be all about rare diseases/disorders. But isn't PCOS fairly common?

Anyway I was excited because I've never heard the name on TV! And I so called the diagnosis before they announced what it was she was suffering from!

I saw that too; I think the only reason they had that one on there was because she did have EVERY symptom it seems and very young onset and it was still missed for so long. Sometimes drs are so stupid!

I did not see the show you are talking about but I can relate! I have every single symptom and 2 dr's missed it for 10yrs. They can have everything staring them right in their face's and still miss the answer. Both of my dr.'s where focused on my endometriosis and that's it.

Hi all, its Charlie here, just saw the topic! some Dr's are real Bad, it took us (well Suzanne) 6years and 3 changes of Doctors to find out and tell Suzanne she has PCOS (poor wee sole) (wee being a Scottish word for small)
I met Suzanne just before her 18th birthday, and don't know how long she had been going through PCOS, the pain and years off misery must of been terrible for her, as in thinking! "why am I hairy" "why cant I be like a normal girl" "why are my periods Sooo Bad" "why do I never know when my period is due" "why are they Sooo late (38/43 days)" the list goes on and on, and I feel real sorry for her at times, when I think, what was Suzs thinking in the 6years that she didn't know why, she could not be like everyone else at that time!
