Default My intro and a Question!

My name is Stephanie and I was diagnosed with PCOS in November of 2002. I did 6 months of clomid with no success. In May of 2003 I took a break. In June I asked my Dr. to give me Glucophage. I had done some research and thought it might gelp. He wasn't very optimistic and gave me a 6 months rx. for it. I started the glucophage July 15, 2003. He said it wouldn't work for me and said to come back in 6 months and we would start over with clomid. Well. 11 days after I started the glucophage I noticed some spotting thinking that my period was coming. I waited 3 days and nothing. I finally took a pg. test and it was positive right away. You can bet I told my Dr. about it. I was on it for 2 weeks when I got pg.
I'm now on it again. Been on it for 13 days. He put me on it in hopes that I would get my period. It has been 53 days since my last one. They were coming every 32-40 days and now nothing. I take 2000mgs. A day. My question is when should I get my period? I took a PG. test last week and it was negative and I don't feel any symptons. I do feel like AF will be here though. I get crampy once in a while. I didn't get a period the last time I was on it. I did stay on it though for the first 12 weeks of my pg.
Thank you Stephanie

I think you're extremely fortunate that you became pg so soon after starting the gluc. To be honest, I'd almost say it wasn't the gluc, as my doc told me this time around to expect the gluc to take 6-9mos to really get into your system and start working. Now, I did originally get AF within two weeks of starting the gluc, but it was actually 10 cycles before I really saw a huge difference with my cycle- and I ended up conceiving that cycle.

Just make sure you're also keeping up with exercise and watching the carbs. The three put together makes for the very best chances of getting a regular cycle going!

I don't have much to add but I just wanted to ask Minday a questions. Are you insulin resistant. I just started taking Metformin and I'm not insulin resistant. I'm hoping it will work for me. In the meantime I'm trying clomid again. I was hoping I would respond differently since I'm taking met. I would hate to have to wait another 10 months to see any results.

Stephanie,

Good luck to you. I hope it works for you.

Dani
