Default Metformin Question

When I started taking the medicine I was having heavy cycles regularly. But for the past two months all I had was about a half a day of spotting. Has anyone else had that happen while on Metformin?

I'm gonna go be a bookworm now. (Reading Pride and Prejudice for the 4th time...)

Thanks for the help

Marsha -

A lot of us I think went on the metformin because they had no real cycle at all and our doctors were hoping this drug would help change that. I know personally I didn't get Af before the metformin and I also didn't get AF after I started the metformin. Since I came off BCP in June I have yet to get AF on my own with or work out Metformin.

How long has it been since you got a normal cycle (more than just spotting)? How long have you been taking the metformin?

Sorry I couldn't be of more help!

Okay so if I retain what I read I would of seen that you said for the past 2 months. I would say something to you doctor if this cycle isn't different. I know it isn't healthy to go more than 3 months without completely cleaning yourself out and if you are only spotting for a day each month you may have a lot built up inside that you need to get cleaned out.

My cycles were actually lighter before metformin. AF this cycle was so heavy that it kind of scared me a bit. I am wondering how AF is going to be on my next cycle.

I only had a "normal" cycle about every eight months before I started metformin. Then I had about 4 that were really heavy and these last two have just been spotting. I scheduled an apt. with my Dr. so hopefully she can tell me what is going on.

(Finished Pride and Prejudice...on to Jane Eyre...I love books )

Let us know what the doctor says. Not only do you love books but it seems like you love the classics!
