How much metformin?

After reading another post, I saw that someone was taking 100 mg of metformin. My RE started me at 500 mg of Metformin XR and moved me up a pill every week. I'm currently at 1500 mg and will begin 2000 mg next week.

Just curious--how much metformin are you taking? How many milligrams did you start at?

I saw that post also. I was thining maybe she meant 1,000, but forgot the zero. I am taking 1500mg which I hear is the lowest dosage. I know several women who have to up their dosage to 2,000mg. I think that you are fine. If you are still worried about it talk with your doctor or nurse ASAP. Good luck. How long have you been on met? I have been on it since March and it seems as thouhg my bowels wil ever harden back up. Sorry TMI, but they are so loose no matter what I do.

I take 2000mg. Last year when I was on it, I only took 1500mg and it didn't do much for my cycles.

Both times I started at 500mg and added 500 each week. I do not take the extended release.

I'm also taking Actos.

Ok--just making sure I was taking a normal dose. I've only been on it for 3 weeks. I started out at 500 mg and have added a pill each week. Friday I start taking 2000 mg.

I'm at 1500 mg right now. Since I have taken it before my RE let me decide how to up the dosage and I did 500 one night then 1000 the next and then started 1500 a few days later. I learned that my side effects are the same whether I start with 500 or 1500 so I just wanted to get the adjustment phase over with. I actually take Fortamet which is extended release so it's not as hard on my stomach. I ovulate on my own while taking it and have conceived twice while on it. Good luck to you!
