Default He's Here....Kolton's Birth Story

So Friday I had contractions all day but nothing overly painful and nothing closer than 8 minutes. I went to bed feeling sad that I didn't have him on the 25th but figured it would be soon since the contractions were pretty constant just not hard.

Saturday morning a very hard and very painful contraction woke me up at 6:03. I had another at 6:13, 6:23, 6:33, 6:40, and then 6:45. I was like crap they are getting closer fast and during the one at 6:45 I went to get out of bed and thought as I was doing so I went my pants. I get to the bathroom and pull my underwear down and it is cover in blood. I immediately start crying and sit on the toilet to go to the bathroom and pass a clot the size of an egg. Now I am hysterical. I call the doctor and he said to go to the hospital. I have now screamed for Mike who was changing Makenzie. He comes in basically scoops her up and we leave immediately for the hospital. Right before we left I grabbed my Doppler and made sure I found a heart beat. I call my mom and tell and her to meet us at the hospital to get Makenzie. The entire ride to the hospital my stomach was hard as a rock and I couldn't feel him move at all. We get to the hospital at about 7:30 and they are acting like nothing is wrong made me fill out paper work, wait in the waiting room for a triage nurse to come get me. I am still in tears just holding onto Makenzie. Finally he starts moving and I felt so much better but was still worried. I go back to triage they check me and I am 4cm and having contractions every 2 to 3 minutes and they do a quick sonogram to rule out anything funny with the placenta. Then they admit me.

I go to my room and at about 9:30 and at about 10:30 I get my epidural. I continue to have contractions but they aren't getting closer they are getting further apart. At about 12:00 they break my water and I go from 4cm to 6cm instantly. At 2:00 I am starting to get some pain again I ask for more epidural. In the mean time my doctor comes in checks me and I am still at 6cm. He breaks what he called a fore bag or something and more fluid comes out. He tells the nurse to add pitocin to get labor going harder. At about 2:30 they come to give me more epidural and the anesthesiologist (sp) played with the epidural in my back, I knew that minute it was going to get ugly. She gave me the extra dose and in 30 minutes the medicine has completely worn off and I am in incredible pain with contractions every minute lasting a minute. I am out and out crying now because it hurt so bad. They get another anesthesiologist to come in and he removes the epidural and has to put another one in while having contractions every minute. They finally get the epidural figured out and my doctor walks in and checks me again, it is 4:00 by this time. I am not 8 to 9cm so he ups the pitocin again. At 4:45 he comes back in and I start pushing. Kolton's head was stuff on my pubic bone and would not budge because of the pubic symphysis. His heart rate starts going haywire and the doctor decides he has got to get him out now. They go and set up to use the vacuum. I start crying because I know it is going to hurt him because he is no where near out like Makenzie was when they used it on her. He starts using the vacuum at 5:25. After numerous tries he finally gets his head past my pubic bone and then I am able to finish delivering him vaginally. He was born at 5:35 and he weighed in at 8lbs .01 ounces and 20.9 inches long.. My mom got to cut the cord because Mike said he couldn't. He had a nice little dent in his head from my pubic bone and a round sucked out part from the vacuum but he was perfect and he was here. The next day all the dents and marks were gone and you can't even tell what he went through.

She is getting more and more interested in him. She went from not wanting him near her to watching to hold him. She is so cute.
