Default help

I am not sure how I was diagnosed with PCOS. I asked my original ob about it since I had hair growth and was overweight and I can't remember the other symptom. Maybe acne?? That was forever ago. At that time my period was very regular. SO, he says "I think you probably do." Then he switched my bc. So I got on that and my periods became irregular (like every 3-4 mths.) I switched dr.s and told her I had been diagnosed with pcos and she said fine and kept me on the same pills. When I had my miscarriage they did see a cyst or 2 via vaginal ultrasound. Now up to date. I was trying to conceive and was pregnant after 2 regular periods and 3 months after getting off the pill. I used an ov. predictor. So now post partum I tell my new dr. that I o'd based on my test and wondered why my period did not start. He tells me that he THINKS I may have a form of pcos and says I can not rely on the predictors...even though I did before and hey I did get pregnant. I think my hormones were still out of whack from the delivery. Anyway, so I have no idea why anyone thinks I have pcos. I am on metformin for it since we will be trying to conceive soon (we lost our daughter in February after an emergency c-section). So, anyone know if I may have been misdiagnosed? Sorry this is so long.

I did get af like that same week as my last dr. appt. in which he said not to trust an ovulation predictor.

was your Ov predictor coming up + around 13-20 days before af? If so, it could well be right.

I would tell them you want a good dx of PCOS. Ask them for blood tests to check your LH, FSH, estrogen, testosterone (this one is very important), free androgen index and prolactin. Or ask for an ultrasound of your ovaries. Most Drs wouldnt dx PCOS without doing these checks.

hope this helps

Crystal is right, ask for these tests and make them give you the results. My DR told me to use the OPK test but to not rely on it completely b/c of my PCOS. We are trying it this next cycle and charting to see if it is working correctly. You just have to exp. with everything when you have PCOS. Not the same thing works for everyone and if something works for you that is great keep doing it.
