Getting Frustrated

Hello ladies,
I'm hoping someone can tell me something to make me feel better. This cycle started on Sept. 10th. It was a short, light period for me which is unusual. On CD 38 (Oct. 17th) I was diagnosed with PCOS and started Metformin. I assumed that my period would then start and the next cycle would be the cycle where I ovulated and would start charting again. (I stopped charting midway through this cycle because my thermometer died on me). But now it's cycle day 48 and still no period. The last ten days I've had insane amounts of fertile qaulity cervical fluid (EW or Lotion) that is just now turning watery. What I want to know is when you start Metformin is it common for it to essencially restart your cycle and could all the CM mean that I ovulated sometime in the last ten days and will soon start my period or do I have all this CM as a side effect of the Metformin? I'm just frustrated because I'm supposed to start Clomid on Nov. 15th but my darn period won't show up and I don't want to miss out on another cycle if I can help it. Is this normal or should I call my OBGYN and ask for something to get my period started? I know you know how I feel, once you're diagnosed you feel like you finally have a chance to concieve now and you get impatient. Thanks for listening to me whine, I appreciate the support. Good luck and blessings, Prana

Watery is good! Have you used an opk? Are you temping so you can confirm O? It's really hard to say if you will or won't. I'd use some opks to check and then go from there.

I agree with Nancy. I can't be much help with metformin as I had no luck with it when taking it alone. I would call your doc and see if they will give you provera to bring on AF if you get a --HTP.
I have been taking Metformin (500mg twice a day)for 4 months and I O and started once on my own. When I was given the perscription for Met my OB told me it could take 3-6 months to start making me O/have af show on her own. I am about to embark on my third round of Clomid(100mg), I O on the first round, but not the second(both were 50mg). My OB also told me some people do fine on the Met, while others like myself, need more help, ie Clomid, etc.
I understand how frusterating this all is , but I think if AF has not shown, you should see about getting a script for Provera so the witch will come and being your TTC journey with Clomid.
I always started Met the first day of my period, so I really don't know if it could start your cycle over. As for CM I never noticed a change when taking Met versus when not taking Met.
The Cm you describe sure sounds like a possible late ovulation. I would try some OPK's and BD even if they are neg. It coudnt hurt. hehe I would also suggest you get a new thermometer so you know if your temps are high. If you have not O'd yet they may still be low then jump in a day or two. If they are high then I really recommed you go to the doctor and get a blood test done to know for certain if you are pregnant or not. I had this problem last month with my af not showing and my doctor did a blood test first, then an ultrasound to be sure what was going on. After those me gave me provera to bring on AF. Hope you find an answer soon hun. I know how frustrated you must be. Hang in there, and things will get better! hugs!
Thanks for the advice ladies I did chart when I started TTC in 04 and quit when my periods went crazy. Then I started again last month but like I said my BBT Thermometer died on me. I still chart but without the temp. You can see my chart if you click on my ticker. We live in a really small secluded town so I couldn't find a new thermometer anywhere. Finally yesterday we found a BBT thermometer at Walgreens. So as soon as my new cycle starts (if it ever does) I'll be temping again. I do have a ovulation predictor kit but I didn't know if it would be a waste of money to use it this late in the cycle. We have been BD every two to three days just in case though. My aunt just had a baby and she also had PCOS and started Metformin and got preggo the very first month. So I didn't know if that was normal or if it would take a few months for the meds to work. Anyway, I've decided that if I don't start by the 31st I'll test and if it's a BFN then I'll call my obgyn and see if he wants me to come in sooner to get something to start my period. I know I'm being silly but after two year every day we have to wait seems like an eternity. Plus, it would be pretty fantastic to be able to announce a BFP at Yule. Thanks again girls, your the best. Good luck and blessings, Prana

Everyone reacts differently to metformin. For some, they get cycles right away, for some it takes a few brought on cycles for it to work, and for the rest of us it just doens't work.
Good Luck and keep us posted.
BTW, I love all your cats!! We have three of our own and they are just a riot to watch.
Prana, I do not think you are being silly at all and even thought I have not been ttc as long as you, I have wanted to be a mom for that long and longer as I am sure you have too. I understand how you are feeling and just wanted to send a little love your way. Hope af shows and if not you get to start the Provera the 31st.
Stay positive and know I am thinking about you.
I alone worked right the first month I was on Metformin (1500mg). After that I never got my cycle again. I always had to have it induced with provera. Even once I started the Metformin Clomid combo I didn't work right until I was at 1500mg of Metformin and 100mg of Clomid and that month I got my BFP. My doctor prescribed a large prescription of provera so I didn't have to keep paying the copay. I always had to take it to induce my period. I would talk to you doctor if it gets much closer to the date you are supposed to start the clomid since usually you start clomid on specific cycle days.
Even with the Met. (I've been on it for a couple months) I didn't cycle on my own. I just got a script for Provera (generic) and showed a couple days ago. I would probably ask your doc for some Provera now, that way you will hopefully have started by the middle of Nov. to start taking your Clomid. Do you know yet whether you are taking it CD 3-7 or 5-9 yet? This time I am taking it CD 5-9 whereas last time I took it CD 3-7. Just curious! Good Luck to you!!!
Keri~ You had to pay a copay for your Provera? Did you take brand or generic? I take the generic (Medroxyprogesterone) and I paid like $2.36 or something like that for 5 pills. So I don't think that even went on my insurance, it is so cheap. I am just curious.
