I am so glad this forum is here! In just the few short hours that I've been on this site, I've learned a lot about PCOS and am comforted knowing that I am not alone in this (although I wish none of us were going through this).

We've been TTC #1 for about 2 years now, but I haven't been on BC since Fall 2001. Finally decided to see a specialist--DH was in the clear (98 million sperm, he was so proud ). Not so good for me. When I FINALLY met AF on Day 38, I called the doc. Had my Day 3 endocrine profile done and then the next day went in for a preantral follicle count/sonogram. The tech found a ton of follicles on my very enlarged ovaries (size 6-8 is normal, I am at 18). Endocrine profile found elevated testosterone level (65). Now I'm on BC for 3 months to try to bring down my testosterone and metformin to decrease ovary size. I'm pretty frustrated to be on BC, but I guess it's better than TTC and not knowing why it isn't working! I am not overweight, but could spare a few pounds. Will this help? Also, any other advice you have for a newbie (both to the board and to PCOS)?

Thanks!
Kristie

Hi! My doctor has me on met as well... I also don't have the typical symptoms that accompany PCOS....so I'm looking at the difference between the syndrome and just the condition(make sense?).
I'm not sure what my blood levels were at the time, but I've done a lot of reading (since yesterday ) and I think mine probably were in the normal range, but maybe a bad ratio......

I'm not on Metformin so unfortunately I don't know much on that or specifics on my levels. I did have an ultrasound which shows my polycystic ovaries. From what I've read Met can be very helpful but my doc didn't recommend it for me. Good Luck!!
