Default 4 Weeks Pregnant Afraid of Miscarriage

I'm trying to calm myself, But it's so hard. I Have PCOS, like many of you. I'm 24 years old. And I conceived using Clomid and Metformin. I'm about 4 weeks pregnant and I'm terrified of having a miscarriage. I dont know if there's anything I can do to reduce my chances of a miscarriage. Everyone says not to worry, But I hear so many people have had Miscarriages Related to PCOS. How many people have a completely healthy pregnancy? Please help.

I have PCOS though a very mild form of it. I'm going to reassure you that I have had TWO completely healthy pregnancies despite having PCOS..My girls are now 5 and 3 and we are gearing up to start ttc our 3rd with PCOS and 50 mg Clomid and our fertility monitor this August. It IS possible to have healthy pregnancies...I'm a success story Think positively ok.

I was told taking metformin throughout the pregnancy reduces the chance of miscarriage to "normal" levels - so I'm on metformin, and so far, so good for me!

I have PCOS and Endometriosis (severe). I was diagnosed with Endometriosis in 2004 after having years of problems but I had a dr. that wasn't very persistant. I had surgery and was put on Lupron injections to eliminate the tissue. I was told that I should get pregnant to help keep it from growing again. I had talked to my DH about us having a baby so early into our marriage (we had been married for 1 month before we started trying). We tried for three months and I gave up. We ended up pregnant soon after and had a very healthy little girl. About a year and a half later we started trying for another. We tried for 6 months with no luck. I took it upon myself to go to a fertility clinic and found out at my 1st appt that I have PCOS too. I was told that we were EXTREMELY lucky to have a daughter with how bad the PCOS was. The dr. put me on Clomid and I was pregnant within the month. I, too, was very worried about miscarriage but we have a very healthy 3 year old boy. I am now pregnant again. I was more worried about miscarriage with this one more than my other two because of the PCOS and the amount of scar tissue I have from the first two c-sections ontop of the Endometriosis. I am 17 wks pregnant on Tuesday and everything is great.

My advice to you is to take it as easy as possible and DO NOT read any stories about other people in the DI boards having miscarriages. I did this and it made me panic and paranoid for no reason.

Good Luck with your pregnacy!

The best advice I can give you is to stay on the metformin. I read a study that said 48% of women with PCOS who didn't take metformin for at least their first trimester ended up having a m/c. But, for those who stayed on the met they had a normal m/c rate of 12%. So, stay on the met and try to reduce your stress and you, too, will probably have a healthy baby Good luck and sticky baby dust***!
