Icon5 Roast Recipe

Hi! New to the Cooking Smart Board and wanted to see how to cook a Roast in a Crock Pot. I have tried it once and it turned out horrible! I think the dog ended up eating it. Which type/cut of meat would you suggest using. I would also like to put potatoes and carrots in the crock pot with it, so when do they go in. Thanks!

Michelle

Default Re: Roast Recipe

Michelle

Here's a pretty basic/generic all time original roast recipe:

Slow cooker or Crockpot Pot Roast Recipe

INGREDIENTS:

1 (10.75 ounces) can condensed cream of mushroom soup

1/2 (1 ounce) package dry onion soup mix

1 cup chopped carrots

6 medium red potatoes, quartered

1/2 cup water

2-3 lbs boneless chuck roast

DIRECTIONS:

Mix cream of mushroom soup, dry onion soup mix and water in the slow cooker

Place boneless chuck in slow cooker and coat with mixture.

Cook on High for 3 to 4 hours, or on Low for 8 to 9 hours.

You can more or less add more veggies. Make sure you always put your carrots/potatoes on the bottom (in crock pot first) then place the meat on top. ANy cut in roasts are good, the thougher ones (shoulder) work well because they slow cook all day and tenderize and get soft. But any chuck roast will do, just make sure it will fit in your cooker nicely.

I also (in my opinion) think they should always be cooked with a low setting, I think they come out better that way

Let us know how it comes out I cant wait to hear!!
