Took a Recommendation from "Gear for Your Kitchen"
And I bought a Krups La Glaciere countertop ice cream maker. Alton Brown recommends this in his "Gear For Your Kitchen" book, and I really wanted to buy one to make sorbets and ice creams without the hassle of an old-fashioned crank kind.
Let me tell you, we all just finished some homemade chocolate ice cream.........................DIVINE, is the word I am using. Simply delicious, so natural, and so easy to make! If you are looking to buy and ice cream/sorbet maker, I would highly recommend this one!
Re: Took a Recommendation from "Gear for Your Kitchen"
Erin, where's my homemade chocolate icecream?
BTW, I have no idea what goes in it, but I believe gelato is Italian icecream. Sounds good- I love italian, and I love icecream, so you can't go wrong with Italian icecream
Re: Took a Recommendation from "Gear for Your Kitchen"
In that case, I don't see why you couldn't make Gelato. As long as it is nice and cold before you add it to the maker, I don't see why it shouldn't freeze. If it's like Italian Ice, I would be almost positive that you could. The base of this maker you freeze so it's so cold, that when you put your mixture in there, it freezes really quickly. It only took about 20 minutes for my ice cream to become a soft serve consistentcy.

Hmmm, I might have to try it. Gelato is a frozen Italian custard. It is much richer than ice cream, not as firm and it's flavor is much more intense. I tell you though, if I could make it at home, I would never leave my kitchen!
