Default Logo Question..

Ok I know most of you do professional photography but I was wondering if I should create a logo of some sort for my pictures I take and load to the computer. Any advice would be appreciated.

I would recommend a watermark. It doesn't necessarily have to be a "logo" but you could make it cutesy or what not just to help "detour" theft. Although if people really want the pic they will still get it

What I used to do and still have on some pics is I just made a strip type watermark like this one:

All I did was make a new blank strip in photoshop for the demensions I wanted, copy and paste it onto my photo as a new layer so I could move it to where I wanted, lower the opacity so it's see through (25-30%) then wrote my name and © symbol over the top in white or black depending on what I'm writing over and then reduce the opacity of the type (25-30%). For the © symbol, just hold down the ALT key and type 0169. HTH!

I really need to make a watermark too. I just haven't taken the time to figure it out or do so. LOL

Jenn did you use the numbering off the 10 key on the right or from the top. I believe(or though anyway) that it only works with those numbers on the right so I was just wondering.

Oh that's weird Jenn! I thought I did it in CS2, I have CS3 now and it works fine. There are other ways you can do it. Let me see what I can find.

Here's a tutorial for it: Making a signature/copyright brush -- a Photoshop tutorial by Janee She says to use the keypad on the right. I almost always only use that so maybe that's the difference. Did you use the numbers up above?

Ok if you don't have photoshop what can you use for that watermark thingy? (I know very techincal huh?)

And do you to the overlay and then save the picture again? So basically you have 2 copies of the same picture.

I used to do the "strip" watermark that Heather talked about.

Jenn~ I've noticed that some fonts don't have the copyright symbol but it will leave a blank in that spot. Could that be happening? I would just change the font of the symbol to a basic one, then the text to something I wanted to use.

Maybe Google using symbols in CS3 on your laptop brand?

You do have a numerical keypad, the numbers are hidden though. If you press the fn key next to the left ctrl button and the numbers are on the m-(0), j-(1), k-(2), l-(3), u-(4), i-(5), o-(6), 7-(7), 8-(8), 9-(9)
If you look at the keys, the numbers are on those keys with a little square around them. HTH
