RAW scares me but your explanation and example makes it sound easier. I thought it would be more complex. I will have to try it one day myself.

The thing is I'm still getting used to photography and worry about trying to learn something new already. I'll give it a go today though. I have the raw processing software that came with my cam. Have I mentioned I can't wait till I get my CS2?

I LOVE raw now. BUT i didn't the first 5-10 times I shot with it. It takes some learning. At least for me it did. I also learned that its noisier so if i have to go above 800 ISO I usually switch to jpeg to reduce the noise a little more.

these are great examples, thanks for sharing. I use Lightroom, didn't know ACR was a free plug in.

Shoot, I was planning on trying it out this weekend and I forgot! LOL I did some pics of Mackenzie and would have hated for me to mess them up though. I'll try to remember to do it tomorrow with some snaps of the younger kids while the big kids are at school in the morning. Thanks for all the examples and everything Mel! I really appreciate that! Gives me a better idea of how it's going to work.

I think RAW is actually harder to mess up. LOL Cause you can correct the exposure later. It's pretty much just a click of the button on the camera. Shooting is the exact same otherwise. The ONLY thing that is different is when you plug it in to edit...ACR pops up first, then you just hit what you want and then push "open" and it goes right to cs3.

It's not scary, I promise (having said that, I had issues the first two times I tried...but it was ME...UNDEREXPOSING on ACCIDENT and causing grain. Grain isnt so much an issue with proper exposure (except really high ISO....but I mean in comparison to RAW/JPEG.)
