Ever do a shot you REALLY didn't want to do???
One of my friends asked me if I could do a group shot of her with her cousins (13 adults total) We booked a date, picked out a location, all was well and I felt comfortable with it. Then came all the changes -- one couple who lives in Paris couldn't come on the planned date and ended up not being able to come before mother's day (it is a gift for their grandmother). So then we went with the idea of a panoramic format with the 4 groups (a group for each family) on a black backdrop. I told them to wear casual clothing but not black and try to go for colors -- as for the couple in Paris, I told them a couple poses I wanted them to try -- there was one picture I was able to kinda use, except they were standing in grass, so I had to do a lot of PS'ing (and I'm no pro at it) and it is hard to try to do something with someone else's picture. In the group of 4, the girl is 5 months pg and she wanted me to slim her hips --A LOT -- aughh! She wanted me to tan her skin and to work on her hair but I said I couldn't do that! I have spent so much time on this and I hate the result. They seem to be happy with it, but I hate giving someone work that I am not 100% happy with. Here is the disaster.... They want to print it as a 30X70cm

I like it! I can't see much detail though b/c it's small. I bet you're glad it's over!

Jill...I don't think it's bad! I agree..can't see detail- but I can't tell which one was the pic taken in the grass. I do like the concept of this. Have you tried a B&W conversion to see how it reads? My only cc would be to make less black space under their feet and a tad more above their heads, that will put the visual emphasis on their faces and not their toes-ies!

That is a really neat idea. I think it turned out great it looks really cool!
I'm sorry you aren't 100% happy with it though, I think you are being too hard on yourself.

Here is a larger version -- I fixed the dark part on the girl's leg in the third group
At this size you see all the problems, bad clonning jobs, etc...

I think you did a great job! The only thing I can say, and it is totally nitpicky but maybe switch around some of the pics. IMO the two pics on the left are similar in posing styles and maybe if they were separated. I don't know. Like I said it's really silly, but it was just the first thing I noticed. Great job though!

Re: Ever do a shot you REALLY didn't want to do???
Personally, I think this is a fabulous idea and I think you were able to carry it out very well. I took it into ps and looked closer and it looks like your blacks are even and I can't tell which was taken on grass. Maybe you've just been looking at it too long. Sometimes we can't pass the flaws we see in our own work to realize that nobody else notices. This is nicely done, Jill.

I think it's a great idea as well, and you did a nice job! I know it takes a lot of work to put something together like this. WTG!!
