Icon10 Decisions, Decisions.......

So my DH said I can get a new camera and lens for Mother's Day (woo-hoo!). Yay for stimulus checks. I'm not sure if I'm ready to take the next step and upgrade, yet, but if I do I was thinking the 40d would be a good choice (I have an XT right now). As for lens, I would want the 85mm 1.8 or the Tamron 28-75mm 2.8. I currently have the kit lens, 35mm 2.0, and 50 mm 1.8. Any opinions on what would be a good fit? Do you think I should hold out for the rest of the month to see if there's a Canon spring rebate program?

Now that's a good gift!!! I'd go with the 85mm only because you don't have anything that long and the tamron would cover the span of two lenses you already have JMO.

....I'm also waiting to see if there's a spring rebate, fingers crossed.....

Where/how would one get a spring rebate? I'm thinking about upgrading soon too.

Canon usually announces their spring rebate by now. You don't have to do anything to get it as far as I know. I think places like Amazon just reduce prices. Ladies, please correct me if I am wrong about that. Thanks!

Yeah, that is a nice gift! I love the 85mm, its awesome! The rebates are coming. Canon has announced the Canadian ones and they start May 15th. Supposedly a great rebate on the 5D. DH is considering getting it since it would be such a great price ($1900). I, however, am waiting for that mark II.
