Default Canon EOS Rebel XS Digital SLR

DF just talked to someone at Ritz Camera and was asking about a few different cameras and their cost for classes and they did say they have this new camera coming out that you can reserve now. Can anyone tell me the big differences between this and the XSi? I know the megapixel difference and they did say this new one doesn't have the live view feature. What else is the difference? I get the idea it's just a less intense version of the XSi which I am still pushing to get now. My birthday's Monday and we're looking to get it for me for then. Right now Circuit City has the XSi on sale for $829 but you don't get the classes that Ritz offer with the camera. The classes are $50 to purchase though so it would still be cheaper than buying from them unless of course they would price match which DF was going to call and ask if they did. I still can't believe that I am willing to spend almost $900 for a camera. I am the one that likes to bargain shop and not go to extremes but I have my mind set on doing this for myself.

I wouldn't worry about the classes too much. I took one and it was useless. You'll learn much more by reading Understanding Exposure by Brian Peterson. Get the Xsi!

Holly that's what we're going with. Or I should say DF is going with. I believe he just met up with his dad to get it for me but of course he won't tell me that. I am so giddy about the whole idea...I can't wait to get snapping. And with me I find that I learn more from playing around with something rather than reading. I am more of a hands on person.

I am too, usually, but I had no clue how to shoot in manual. The book has exercises in it which were great.
