Icon9 Update #2!!

Well ladies,

We received a phone call from my Fertility Specialist last night and he gave me the news about my tubes, which I already knew , then he proceeded to ask to speak to Richard and this is where the fun started ...........

Before we could do IUI, both Richard and myself had to have blood work done ie: HIV, Hep B, Hep C, Rubella, Blood group etc........, well, it turns out that Richard is a carrier of Hep B .

My Dr said, that he wont do IUI until I have been immunised again Heb B. He was also quite surprised that I had not contracted Hep B from Richard, as we have been together over 7 years , I guess I have been lucky. Anyway, I went straight to the Dr's last night and got my first of three, immunisation injections.
After I have had the second injection (in a months time), my Dr told me to give him a call back and we will organise the IUI, but he wont do it before hand, so I have been a little down today ladies , I cant tell u.

Things just dont seem to go the way 'I' want them to go . There is always something in our way.

The Dr also said, that we should not get pg until after I am immunised and that we should use condoms, but I am not about to let this cy go to waste, I am most likely O'ting on my right side this cy and I dont want to miss that egg, no matter what.........Am I being selfish?? I am 41 next Wednesday and I dont feel that we have time to waste anymore.

So, that is my latest update, no IUI this cy and Richard is a carrier for Hep B . I dont think Richard took it too well, but I am sure that he will be ok. I really felt bad for him last night when we found out. I think he feels that he is to blame for me not getting pg, but I dont blame him at all, if anything, I really blame my AMA (Advanced Maternal Age).

Thanks for letting me vent ladies, I love u guys .

So sorry to read the bad news about Rich, but I don't think your being selfish to ttc this cy. You both made a baby b4 I don't see the problem when you do it again. And, yes AMA could be slowing down the ttc process but as long as there still eggs, go for it.

Take care Di,

keep us posted.

Thanks DeAnne, I so needed to hear that . I am sure that we will this cy, ur right, I dont see what harm it can do, especially now that they immunise babies against Hep B, as soon as they r born.

Thanks for the reasurrance .

Wow hon, I am soooo sorry!
ITs so tough when you are excited about moving forward and then life keeps throwing crud in your way!
Here is a page with further info for you. It is about being a hep b carrier
http://www.cha.state.md.us/edcp/factsheets/hepb_ca.html
I dont think it is selfish.. but i think it is unusual that you have been in close contact (it is spread through blood and semen) yet havent got it. The scare is that if you have it, it gets passed on to the unborn baby.
At least it got caught, and NOW you can move forward.
I am just so sorry that this new hurdle was thrown in front of you hon... my deepest heartfelt thoughts are with you.
*hugs*

Hurdles, Hurdles & more Hurdles. What we do to get pregnant. I am so sorry that this happened to you & Richard. I would feel the same way you do about wasting a cycle. I hope that all turns out for the best.

Dianne

I am so sorry about the bad news you got. I do not think you are selfish either. I don't blame you at all for not wanting to waste a cycle. But like you said that is so odd that you have not got it yet. There is a major basketball player here in the states that has HIV and his wife has never gotten either. And I believe that they have had a couple of kids too. (magic Johnson is the name of the guy) Well you know I hope you get your all on your own. I am having trouble with yahoo again. But as soon as I get it all up I will try to catch up with you. I miss you so much. How are Sarah and Jasmine? Give Jasmine a kiss for me!!

Thanks Christina & Jacqueline...........I have been feeling really down/irritable today, we just want this sooo badly and feel like everything is stopping us .

I know it will happen and if it happens this cy, then we have saved ourselves about $1000 for the IUI, but if not, then it will be money well spent, I can tell u .

I am glad that we have caught it now, but I still cant believe how I have managed to escape getting the Hep B virus , really, really lucky, I guess.

It is quite baffling how you managed to escape contracting it. I conceived Kevin the cy after I stopped the Clomid and right before my schedule IUI cy. I refused to waste it as well. It was so great to call the Doc and say "Nevermind!". Good luck!!

Thanks ladies, I am also amazed at how I 'have not' contracted Hep B, u would think that after 7 years of being together, that I would have it , I cant figure it out, I am putting it down to being lucky .

We have decided to not waste this cy, I have just had my HSG and I have heard that u can get pg more easily on HSG cy , so we will go ahead and and hopefully it will work and I too, can tell my Dr 'nevermind' .

I also did Clomid this cy, so I hope I have some nice sized follies on my right side and we catch all of them , if not, at least one .

Thanks again ladies, I really appreciate all ur replies

.Absolutely amazing about the hep b. I hope your husband doesn't feel too bad. It's really on the rise in this country. I can imagine he wouldn't be at his happiest.
I would definately give this cycle a go. Some might say not, but I think you should because this could be the one.

Thanks Diamond and great to see u here .

Yes, Hep B is certainly on the rise here, it is a shame. DH did feel bad when the Dr told him, but I tried to reassure him, that it was not his fault that he contracted Hep B. I think with time, he will be ok, it is just hard right now.

We have decided that we r going to make the most of this cy, because, as u said, this just could be the one .

How r u BTW??
