For those ladies that are pg and know the gender of your baby...
is it true that the heart rate can predict the gender?
I just had my second appt. today and the MWs both said that the "old wives" tale says that I'm having a girl. The baby's heart rate today was 160.
What do you think?
thanks.

Re: For those ladies that are pg and know the gender of your baby...
Lurking from DIAug I'm having twins and at every appt. I've had so far, BOTH their heart rates have been in the 140's The u/s tech said it's funny cause as the "old wives tale" goes, ya know the lower is boys and the higher is girls, well she was being funny and said, boy heart rates BUT GIRL parts...lol 2 u/s confirmed they ARE GIRLS, I think sometimes you can go by that, but it's not written in stone, if you KWIM?? Good luck, will be interesting to hear what you are having!! Take care!!

hehe Janet, I was gonna say WHAT?!
Little Dante's heartbeat is app 150. My daughter was always in the 130's....
I carried both my boys differently, craved sweets with this boy, sour with my daughter.. actually, i have broken all the wives tales

Re: For those ladies that are pg and know the gender of your baby...
My first boy had a high heartrate but he was also always moving (still is to this day!) My second boy had a lower heartrate but he was much more mellow. I had a gut feeling very early on that both of them were boys. I know it is still early but this baby I can't quite get a boy/girl vibe yet. Mostly I think boy but every once in a while I'll have a twinge of doubt and think girl. I guess we'll find out soon enough.

Re: For those ladies that are pg and know the gender of your baby...
I thought girl the whole time.. until a day or two before the BIG u/s, then I suddenly thought, hmm... i think it IS a boy.
I was still shocked when the DR actually confirmed that he was a boy... I am still kind of expecting that on the delivery day, we will find out that it is indeed a little Amaya and NOT Dante, lol

Re: For those ladies that are pg and know the gender of your baby...
Hi. I've always believed the tale...higher say 140 and above for girls and lower 130 or less for boys. This one is 160 and I don't know what it is. I feel in my heart boy but I've convinced myself girl since the heart rate is so high. My girls hb's were, 160, 150, 130, and 140. My boy's I dunno...doc never told me but it seemed slower. Some say if you shave your legs more often, girl. Crave citrus girl. Carry low and oval girl. I seem to see more boys born post VR and I don't know why that is because boy sperm are generally weaker and you'd think antibodies and scarred vas's would slow boys down more, but girls are the exception post VR and not the rule.

Re: For those ladies that are pg and know the gender of your baby...
that's too funny Sue, with both of my boys I did all the girl things; craved citrus, shaved daily, carried lower, etc.. So who knows.
Thanks for your post.

Re: For those ladies that are pg and know the gender of your baby...
I'm having a girl (yay! ), and her heartbeat was 167 @ 10w2d, 158 @ 12w4d, and 140 @18w4d.
This is my first, so I don't have anything to compare it to. I always thought I would have a boy, but when I got pregnant, I just knew she was a girl... and she is.
