Re: For thos with BFP after TR
Well, for TL, I had the clips....
I don't know how much tube I had left after reversal. When I asked after the surgery, I was told, Oh don't worry, you have enough. LOL,. I guess it was!
First was 3 months after the reversal, and our second cycle trying. It ended in early miscarriage.
Then, the cycle following the m/c I got pregnant with Dante.
And now I'm pregnant again.

Re: For thos with BFP after TR
I had my done with clips. I had them removed in nov of 07. Not sure about length cuz i was also told they were good. Had not concieved so had HSG done in April and tubes were blocked but was able to open the right one. So now just relax and see what happens. Hopefully your having the micro surgery. I hear that is alot more successfull and less painfull. I wish i had looked into it more. Mine was a full operation.

Re: For thos with BFP after TR
Thanks ladies. You all are so lucky you just had clips. I am so worried the doc is going to tell me no about a TR. I know how much tube was taken. I surprisingly have about half my tube left on each side, but no fimbria. so I am feeling pretty pessimistic right now,
I was curious if anyone had shorter tubes and gotten a BFP afterwards.

Re: For thos with BFP after TR
Vera: what kind of surgery did you have exactly?
Mine was microsurgery, but it was a BIG surgery, done as a laparotomy, (bikini inscision) and hurt like he double hockey sticks!
Crystal, not all TR doctors do that sort of reversal, I remember looking it up for someone else before, but there ARE doctors that do it. If this dr you will see says no, then you may have to look out of state.
I did read about a doctor that does them, not sure where he was.

Tubal Reversal After Fimbriectomy Tubal Ligation
Pretty much, the only info I find on Dr.'s willing to do it is Dr. Berger.
What Dr are you going to see?

Re: For thos with BFP after TR
Moonrise: I guess it would have been the traditional on i know it wasn't the micro. I have about a 6-7 inch scar above my bikini line and let me tell you i understand what you mean about the hockey sticks....lol I never had a c-section but if it like that i don't want it!!!!!!!!!!
I saw you were looking at the dr. berger, i am thinking if a yr goes by with nothing about contacting him as well. I don't know if they will do a double reversal or try to unblock the tubes once they have been played with at all.

Re: For thos with BFP after TR
Candice, I cant help you wiht that, but a few ladies from Texas here have had TR, and your Dr name sounds familar, maybe that is the dr they used. Hopefully they will see your post and offer some info.
Vera, just wondering, what makes you so sure that they did not do the micro surgery?
I didnt think they used anything BUT microsurgery anymore.
I had the long scar above the bikini as well, it was a 4 hour surgery for me (lots of repairing to do) It was a long recovery for me and hurt far worse than my c-sections did. But, it was microsurgery. They use microscopic glasses, but many doctors still use the protractor to separate the abdominal walls and that is what causes the additional pain afterward. I know other women who had the same procedure done have had less pain, and some equal. I think it has alot to do with how much poking and prodding they do and how long the surgery lasts. Also, some doctors inject a local anesthetic into the surrounding area while they are working on it, which cuts down on pain afterward.
What sort of Dr did your surgery? Was it your ob, or an RE?

Re: For thos with BFP after TR
I heard there were a few that used him. If you see them or find out please let me know. And what did you mean by seperating the abdomin wall ? Is that something they have to do? Why was your surgery any different or longer than normal? I dont want to be in much pain. And you make it sound really BAD!

Re: For thos with BFP after TR
Well, you have abdominal muscles that lie across your abdomen.
Some doctors use a protractor (or maybe it is a retractor) to hold the muscles out of the way so that they can get to the tubes. I think the pain depends on the type of retractor used... and the length of time.
I had the clips, but they were at a narrow part of my tube, so after he took the clips off he did a bit of a roto-rooter job hollowing out my tubes. The procedure was about 3.75 hours. I think he may have had a teaching class in there too ,who knows, lol.
Yeah, it hurt alot for me. More than I expected because some women on here had there reversal and felt great within a few days. So I was unpleasantly surprised at my level of pain and questioned other women wondering what I had had done differently. But because it was my abdominal wall that ached, (reminded me somewhat of my first c-section) I summed it up to the retractor being used and the length of time it was in place clamped on the muscles, perhaps it was a bit too long and really hurt some nerves.
Either way, regardless of the pain, I am happy I did it. I am now pregnant with Tubal REversal baby #2
With ANY major surgical procedure, there are risks.
And there is going to be some level of pain regardless of who does it or how.
Most tubal reversal websites have the procedure listed so that you can read for more information.
LmFinnegen and Lmwilliams on here are the ones I beleive who had the procedure done by Rosendale.
Perhaps start a new thread asking who has had a tubal reversal done by that dr and you will get a response quicker

Im so happy I found a support group to help me threw this.If any women in the same thing as me please get back to me. I think there is more to this then just peas and carrots LOL! Its awful what women or most go threw after a TL! If your thinking of it dont do it.It messed me up big time so much pain every month. I know there is hope. If theres a will theres a WAY! Thank You All for helping me fell like Im not crazy HAHAH!!! ttysoon

Re: For thos with BFP after TR
I guess I was lucky
I never had any post TL pain.
For me there was no difference from before I had my tubes tied. No pain, no mood swings.. nothing.
After my tr, i have noticed that I really feel when I am going to ovulate, and i feel pain and twinges in both tubes... but maybe that is because I started paying more attention to them after my reversal
Best of luck!

Re: For thos with BFP after TR
moonrise: now you really have me thinking. He is supposed to call me on Friday to answer some questions that i have because he always seemed to have rushed out and is so busy at my visits which has me pist, sorry but it does. Another question i mean did you change your life style at all while ttc. I don't smoke or drink at all anymore. I'm trying to stop drinking coffee. I guess my question is how much do you really think all that effects fertility. When i conceived all my other children i was doing everything wrong....lol according to all i've read..I'm nuts!!!!!!!

Re: For thos with BFP after TR
Also it was my ob who had done the t/r. He was the one that put the clips on and i remember when he was talking to me before in the OR he told me not to worry that if i had ever changed my mind they were the esiest to reverse. I think i just had this expectation that i would have it reversed and boom right away baby so its not settleing to good right now

Re: For thos with BFP after TR
I did change my lifestyle while ttc.
Up until my TR surgery I was a heavy drinker.
Almost daily I drank shots of whiskey in my coffee, I was a smoker (only when I drank, but I drank every day) I was in actuality a bit of a mess. The TR almost didnt happen because my d/h said forget it.
He was not impressed with my drinking. Truthfully, few people knew I drank as much as I did, because I always drank a bit here and there, most people didnt even realize. Until the weekends, when I would get REALLY slammed.
I needed this ray of hope... wanting my TR baby... i wanted it so badly that I quit everything before my surgery. And have NEVER looked back. I am SO happy being sober and smoke free....
I did cut back on my coffee to three cups/day, because everywhere I read said that could most likely be a safe limit.
I drank lots of water to stay hydrated, 2 litres/day. I started my prenatals even before my surgery, because i know the most important time for Folic acid is in the weeks leading up to adn the first few weeks of pregnancy. Waiting until one is pregnant to start with Folic Acid can be too late, and being older and slightly more likely to have a child with 'issues' I knew that at least by taking folic acid i was helping things.
I think all those things affect fertility once we get older.
In our early twenties, it seems hard almost to NOT get pregnant, and then later, when we really want to get pregnant, it seems alot harder.
Good rule of thumb..
while ttc , treat your body as though you are pregnant.

Re: For thos with BFP after TR
I guess its different with everyone. I wasnt that lucky when it came to my TL.I cried before I had it done and after surgery I was still crying when I woke up. I hope this TR surgery makes a big difference. And Im hope that I can get my life back. It changed my way of thinking alot after I had the surgery and when I am in alot of pain. I will know soon enough if it was a good deciction on my part! Does anyone know of someone who has been in pain since they had a TL done? I know Im not the only person out there.
