Hey, I have a question about my results I requested today. The nurse gave them to me the best she could but I still have to get them from my doctor as to what they mean. But I'm too impatient and called ahead of time and now figured I would ask opinions. From anyones experiences, are these normal?

I got a blood test done April 9, 2008
(my last period was March 17th, 2008 befor the blood work)
Blood test were given to me like this:

*Thyroids Normal
*GermanMeasels (low immunity) vaccine recommend (went and got the vaccine April 21 2008)
*Progesterone 2
*Prolactin 8

What exactly does that mean?

I also did get an ultrasound and xray done April 15,2008
xray showed:

*moderate scoliosis
* 2 sterilization clips more to the left side of the pelvis

Ultrasound showed:
*Uterus normal in shape and size
*.4 cm endo lining
* right ovary measuring 2.6
* left ovary measuring 2.6

Im curious to know if my numbers from my ultrasound and blood work go good with my last menstrual period and when they got done....
Last menstrual period March 17th
Blood work done 23 days after period (april 9)
Ultrasound done 29 days after period (april 15)
I realize I will have to still get my confirmated results from my doctor but personal experience is greatly appreciated.

Well, im not sure on ovarian size, although it seems normal, and as far as the scoliosis, that is a spinal thing, that must have been picked up from the scan.
Your progesterone is very low. No ovulation has taken place.
You uterine lining is only 4mm, which also confirms that no ovulation has taken place.
usually prolactin is done on day 3, but it doesnt seem high at all, so i dont think that matters.
Just odd that you still havent ovulated yet.

I have also not received my period yet, late on it, once again. I've been stressig myself left right and center tho. Stressing over quitting the daycare job I had, stressng cus my DH quit his job to get a better one (which hes started already), stressing over my xdh and my kids on how they treat me, stressing over the results, stressing over if this is really gonna happen...etc. My DH thinks Im late cus I havent relaxed, says I have to. Im used to not having a regular cycle since I had my tubal ligation, it can go from 5-9 weeks between cycles and longest was 13.
My ultrasound of my uterine lining in January 24th I had was at 10 weeks late and it was only 10mm, then i ended up getting my cycle naturally Feb 13, I was sick just befor Christmas time,bad flu, had infection in my bladder, was in disagreements with my family, i was working...etc, my doctors said it could of been stress. Wondering if thats the case here.
Right now, this past week, since Sunday April 20th, ive had LOTS of mucus clear and whitish, i also have cramping down there, so Im praying I get it soon. I want my doctor to do a FSH test just to make sure Im ok.
I did think those numbers were low, the nurse seems to think they are ok, but then again she said it depends on when in the cycle.
I pray I get my cycle...I need a break to. lol

ok, well first off, 10mm is great
it means that you were at least building up a uterine liningg..
if you were getting clear and white mucous around the 20th, that means you were probably finally ovulating. (if you were temping, you would know for sure if you ovulated in the last few days)
IF you did indeed ovulate, you can expect within the next two weeks.
I suggest going to Fertility Friend.com and learning about temping, and the secondary signs such as cervical mucous and even cervical positiion (although that is one thing i havent tried doing.)
You are having delayed ovulation it seems if you ovulated around the 20th. This would put you on cycle day 34.
Yes, a day 3 fsh would be a good idea to see how your ovarian reserves are doing.
Im cant remember if you said how old you are, but pre-menopause can start as early as our mid thirties, FSH levels taken on day 3 can help to show this.
Also, prolactin tests should be done on day 3, at a certain time of the day, without exerting yourself first to get a good reading. If you were not instructed on your prolactin, maybe you could ask to have it done along with a day 3 FSH and a day 3 estradiol (both to check ovarian function)

I havent started the fertility friend yet, as i need to get a proper thermometer.
Im 30 years old, Im also short(4 feet 11inches) and fluctuating with my weight. I was 90 pounds1 month ago, Im not 110, I as 117 back in December 2007) and I do think icould be in early menopause, my mom did by the time she was 37, so who knows. As for the day 3 test, i need my period to show up in order to get that done...*ugh* I hate the waiting game....To me being late is normal for me, but once i get past day 37(from 1st day of last period) I get worried. I had all these questions writtin down for him, I asked them last time I was in, and he said for me to go for the blood work t see how im doing for ovulation and stuff...cant get a proper result (in my eyes) unless he does monthly blood work, and Im not sure I can or want to wait a fewmonths to get my surgery done. I hope I can get it done, then focus of regulating my cycle.

oh hon, dont worry I thought you were in your late thirties for some reason !
Im sure you are fine.
And as i said, the cm you described, ad pains were probably o, so i am sure you will probably get in about two weeks time. the length of your cycle is more to do about when you ovulate. you can go along time before you ovulate, but only about 2 weeks passes after ovulation until

I will add though.....Due to u having such longish cy's, could u possibly have PCOS (PolyCystic Ovarian Syndrome)?? It may be something u could look into.

Yes Dianne, I agree, it is a common cause of long annovulatory or delayed ovulation cycles...
here is a link to tests performed to look into it... PCOS

testosterone is one of the major clues as to whether or not there is a problem with pcos

But with no mention of cysts on the ovaries from the u/s report, i felt it may not be the problem.
Of course, i am not a doctor, so i really have no idea.
Checking LH levels to see if the lutenizing hormone is being produced to signal the rupture of the egg might be good too. as well as the estradiol on day 3.

But what it boils down to is this:
What do the answers mean to you? If you find out that it may take alot of work to get you ovulating, does that mean you dont want to get the reversal? If you STILL want to get the reversal regardless, then those results shouldnt affect your desire to get it done. Just means that it may take a bit more work,.Many women here have gone on clomid after tr to encourage ovulation,and then often a hcg trigger to force the egg to release. The meds arent as expensive in Canada as in the states.

Please keep in mind though, that even in a perfectly working menstrual cycle, the success rate of pregnancy after a tubal reversal is anywhere from 40-80% depnding on age (under 30 is the highest success rate, under 35 is about 79%, over 40 is about 41% and these numbers vary greatly from hospital to hospital).... there are the additional factors of hormonal imbalance and tube lengths etc....
so, Im not trying to be negative, but you basically need to decide whether or not this is something that emotionally you are ready to take on.

TTC with a perfect cycle is hard enough, but ttc with surgically repaired tubes that are missing some of the important hairs to help "swoosh" the egg along, and with abnormal cycles may take alot of patience and OMG, it can be SO heartbreaking.
Cycles arent just fixed by a single dose of meds.. it can be one med for the beginning of a cycle, and one med in the middle and one at the end. Every cycle. Of course, if it ends up being pcos , then your dr can find the right combination of things that will help, usually metformin for insulin included which can do lots to help.... but it can be a long process to sort out the reasons for anovulatory cycle. There is no quick fix.

I do suggest, even if you havent got a thermometor yet (they are quite cheap, i bought mine up on scott rd and 96th at the drug store), to read about the menstrual cycle, take the online fertilityfriend course... you dont need to have a thermometor to do the course... learning as much about your body as you can, and taking charge of your fertility will make the ttc process less frustrating.

Thank you for responding, and yes that was something I looked into in January...LOL I had everything ready for my family doctor, he was amazed. He sent me for everything, and then told me the results were normal, and from that sent me to my Gynecologist. He to said I was fine....ugh...
By the way, yes I am ready to take on meds, patiences and more when it comes to trying for a baby with my DH

hey

I had my testosterone checked in January, everything panned out good. No cysts either on my ovaries on both U/S's which is GREAT news to me. No fibroid either!
I want to let you know I have spotting now, so IM HOPING this is the onset of my period flow for this month.
No your not being negative,and yes this is something Im ready for reversal and all, aside from my other stresses in life this is something Im wanting to do.
As for the thermometer, it isnt a fact of money for it, its a matter of me going and getting one..LOL
I appreciate all your advice, as you know alot more than I do when it comes to that.
Wednesday I hope to get more answers as Ive been waiting a long time to get this done.

When he did the work up, did he do the day 3 tests?
I think those may be more informative...
Here is a great page with all the hormone levels and info.

No I dont think he done a day 3 test, as my last period befor that blood work in January was November 18, 2007. I had blood work 23 days after my March 17 period done at UBC.
