She hasn't had the baby yet. She's having a rough time. The baby won't drop further and she's still at 3cm, with constant contractions. The hospital is too busy, so they haven't been able to induce her yet. It's getting ridiculous.
She hadn't felt the baby move for quite a while, and was very scared. When she called L&D, the hospital told her NOT to come in! We went anyway. They just keep putting her on a monitor. They said she's fine. Since then, when she has felt the baby move, it's been weak and low down. We think the baby might have flipped breech again, and that's why there's such a big change in pattern and feeling, and why she isn't progressing. But nobody will give her an ultrasound to check.
I'm worried about her and the baby. They measured her tummy on Tuesday, and she's between 34 and 35 cm, when she should have been closer to 40.
They normally refuse to induce before 42 weeks. But we finally got an "induction assessment date" for Sunday night. She's at home now, on sleeping pills and painkillers to get her through the next few days until they have time to help her. Her OB is on vacation, so she's just left waiting.
I will update you when this little one finally arrives. At this point, I don't care if it's by cesarean or not, as long as my baby and my baby's baby are safe and healthy. We're just trying to keep her as comfortable as possible. Thanks to everyone for asking about her!

that is so upsetting.
I love our "free" healthcare, but i tell you, it seems sometimes like we get what we pay for!
I hope her and her lil one are ok.

You said it Shilo. I can't believe what I'm reading about Missy. And with what happen to you in your early weeks of pg with the h/b and all.
I try to tell American's who are wanting "free" health care here what you ladies go through. It breaks my heart.
Missy; your in our thought and prayers .
Take care,
DeAnne

Re: Prayers for Missy
Hi everyone. It's me. I asked my mom to update here, but she couldn't find the right board. Thank you so much for all your thoughts and prayers. It really means a lot to me!
No baby yet. But I do have an appointment to go in this afternoon to get an induction assessment, and if necessary, they'll either give me a gel or a catheter to get my cervix ripened. Then I'm scheduled for an induction tomorrow morning (which is my due date). Hopefully, the gel or the catheter will be enough to get the process going.
I know there are risks to induction, but I also know my baby is not behaving the same way that she has been throughout the entire pregnancy. There was a sudden and drastic decrease in the strength and frequency of her movements on Monday, so I want her out!
I've been stuck at 3 cm for a long time. Even my doctor didn't think anything would change if I wait things out for the next week or two. At my appointment on Tuesday, she said she could still move the baby's head (or bum) around a little, so the baby hasn't dropped all the way down yet. If she's not head down, or can't fully engage, I'm not sure what the next step is. But at least I'm in the schedule for an induction in the morning. So, she'll be here soon. I keep telling her that her mommy loves her, and her daddy loves her, and her grandma and grandpa love her, and we can't wait to see her and hold her and kiss her.
I don't care how it happens... at this point, I just want to get her here and see that she's healthy.
I'm sorry I haven't been able to read the threads to catch up with all of you, but I hope everybody is well.
Thanks again, everyone! I'll come back to update you as soon as I can.

Re: Prayers for Missy
Alyssa Kristen Nicole
After 70+ hours of labour, and over 6 1/2 hours of pushing(!!), I am thrilled to announce the arrival of Alyssa Kristen Nicole. She was born on Wednesday, August 29th at 3:19 pm, weighing in at 7 pounds, 6 ounces, and measuring 20 inches long. She is absolutely beautiful and perfect, and I am completely in love! She has the whole family wrapped around her perfect little finger.
After such a long labour, I'm still extremely sore and swollen, and have a catheter in place because they don't think I'll be able to pee due to the swelling. But I managed a vaginal delivery, and am happy about that. They did use forceps, so I had an episiotomy (which the dr said wasn't too bad) and one small tear, which I'm not sure she even stitched.
Alyssa's cord was the shortest the dr had ever seen. That was why she had so much trouble flipping over, and why she wasn't able to drop down enough. When they pulled her out, they delivered her head and body to the cord, and then had to kind of twist her to get her legs out. They had just barely enough room to get two clips between me and her to cut her cord. But she was a little trooper, and hung in there through all the pushing, never showing a moment of distress.
We came home from the hospital today, and are now settling in. It was a long hard journey, but well worth it.
My mom was with me every moment, and was an absolute godsend. She slept with me in the room at the hospital, and never left the whole time I was there. I'll never be able to thank her enough.
As for Alyssa's name, she was going to be called Alyssa Nicole, but my labour nurse, Krystyn, was so amazing that I wanted to add her name. I would never have made it through the delivery without her help and support.
I'll come on when I can to give the longer version of her birth story. Thank you all for asking about me, and for all of your prayers. She's here, and I'm soooo happy!
