ok i need some help/advice/answers
Sorry I havent been posting for a while, I have been lurking, just loseing my umph I guess? Cycle 7 TTC is hard and what makes it worse, I followed all dr directions and waited for my HSG till 6 months after my Tubal Reversal. So long story short, im blocked on BOTH tubes! BUT not where the anastamosis was done, it's actually blocked at the distal end where the fimbrea is???? I had dye throughout my entire tube passed the reconnection and then it just stops.....ok so the radioligist explains to me that my egg wont make it into the tube and that IVF is the best option? but also to speak with my dr......so i thnk i prepared myself for these results 2 cycles ago. but still I cant figure out how this occurs. During my TR i had 3 hsg's done.....one prior to reconnect of the tubes, and 2 more after they were connected....had nice flow as per the op reports.....so my next thing was infection? ok well i have been getting paps every 4 months and all clear.....Grasping at straws before I totally give up.....im wondering if you can spasm at that end of the tube? I dont have plans to do anymore surgeries to "unblock" my tubes. so spasm? or could it actually blow out some debris? lol or if that was the case wud it show on the screen? im so sad right now.........

Re: ok i need some help/advice/answers
Michelle,
I am so sorry.
I think the tubes can spasm anywhere... it seems way too weird that after your previous hsgs, that they would be closed, and PAST the surgical area?
Maybe google search blockage at distal... see what the reasons are that come up.
Maybe it could have been a surgical issue and maybe a surgical procedure would be covered? From what Ive read, the procedures are very effective... removing buildup at the end like that.
Talk to the dr., and i hope you get some answers.
And yes, the procedure can help to clean out the tubes....
can you talk to the surgeon that did the procedure?

Re: ok i need some help/advice/answers
ya that was possibly gonna be my next move if i feel up to it (calling the surgeon).....im numb right now....discouraged..... all the time, effort, $$$$, emotion, dam what else is there? the radiologist did the" well ok you are done and when is your next dr appt so you can go over the results with the dr?, my response was IM BLOCKED RIGHT? she said yes i am sorry...
i just never heard of it occuring at the distal end?....just dont make sense to me i guess? I had no pain with the procedure this time
a lil cramping when i stand...but thats it, i dont know if she attempted to push the dye through harder? and she only had me roll 1 time on each side? also she does this procedure at least 6 times a week. so i know she knew what she was doing.....
everything i read so far indicates an infection....but i have been taking doxycycline for 4 days prior to this hsg....and she told me to continue the antibiotics, i only have 1 day left anyways....
and as for scar tissue... endo?? my AF is so much better now after TR i have no cramping. doesnt cramping mean endo? and/or scar tissue?
my last pap during my pelvic i had tenderness on my left side and dr said you may have some scar tissue...but thats also the side that i had the cyst that ruptured back in 93 and had surgery on my ovary. But during surgery (TR) the surgeon cleaned it up????
Im sorry im goin off...just so dumbfounded i guess. even though deep down inside i knew this was the case (that i must be blocked)
So before i toss my hpt's i just ordered or bust my thermometer, delete my ff, os, mycycle account. im just looking for the lil bit of..ok well perhaps there is still some hope...but i honestly think that the radiologist was very sure of herself.
Well Shilo thanks for responding, im gonna google my brains out for a while....i will be calling my dr on friday....so he has time to review these results....

Re: ok i need some help/advice/answers
Michelle~ I am so sorry that they are saying both of your tubes are blocked, but it does seem wierd that they aren't blocked at the surgery site. I know DJ had a tough time with her hsgs and thought both of her tubes ere blocked, maybe a second opinion? I hope you get the answers you are looking for, and I truly do know how you feel, I remember when the Dr called and told us my husbands sa results were in and that the only way I would get pg was with IVF......it hurts alot, but don't give up yet! *hugs*

Re: ok i need some help/advice/answers
Michelle I am sorry for the distressing news. I will keep you in my thoughts & prayers. Hopefully it was just a spasm & not really a blockage!!

Re: ok i need some help/advice/answers
Michelle, I had the same thing happen to me. In Feb. I had my first hsg done by a radiologist at a hospital. It hurt really bad, I can't tell you how painful it was! The dye didn't travel and he said that both my tubes were blocked. I laid on the table crying and he put his hand on my shoulder and said "Sorry". The tech walked me out, handed me a pad and she said "Sorry" too. I left feeling aweful. I came home, stood in the middle of the living room, put my hands over my face and cried like a baby. I couldn't believe it. I rushed to get a second opinion because I didn't want to believe that I was blocked and my gut told me to presue it...two weeks later I seen a RE who looked at the film and said that the radiologist didn't do the hsg right, that the catherter was placed wrong. In March, I had a 2nd hsg done by a RE and yup, I seen the dye flow on my left side. She tried to work with my right tube but wasn't successful. She knew what I had previously been through with the first hsg so she was really detailed at explaining and showing me where my tube was actually OPEN. I seen it with my own eyes and again, I laid there crying like a baby. I was VERY happy to have atleast one tube open. The REs words that day was "It only takes one tube".
My advice is to get a 2nd opinion by an RE. REs specialize in this stuff. Needless to say, after I had my 2nd hsg done I went back to the hospital where I had my first hsg done. I asked to talk to the supervisor in Radiology, I explained what that dr told me (both tubes blocked), I told her that the RE took one look at the film and seen that it was done wrong...she said that she would look in to it. A few days later, she called me back and said that she reviewed the film with the Cheif Radiologist and they confirmed that it was done wrong and that would waive the charge ($1200.00). I told her that it was more than the money, it was a horrible event that the radiologist put me through and that she better make sure that he nevers does that to anyone again.
I know how you feel because I experienced that deardful feeling for 2 weeks until I was told by the RE that the first test was wrong. I can tell you, my insurance doesn't cover anything dealing with an RE and my expenses have been ALOT but I would pay it all over again to get the answer that I did.
Let me know if I can help in any way.

Re: ok i need some help/advice/answers
I would definately be getting a second opinion Michelle. Did the tech get u to roll around on the table, from side to side?? Doing this, helps with the dye getting thru the tubes.
With my HSG experience, my right tube flowed freely, but my left tube was completely blocked at the uterus end, no dye at all entered my left tube .
I am lucky to have one open/patent tube.
I find it weird that both ur tubes would be blocked at the distal end, when the re-anastomis was in a different position.... , very confusing. They both could have spasmed, so if I were u, I would be seeking a second opinion hon.
