Nuchal Translucency & Combine Screening Results.........
Hey ladies,
I saw my Dr yesterday and she was kind enough to give me the results of my NT u/s/combined screening results.
I am happy to say that I have a 1:6400 chance of having a baby with T18(Edwards Syndrome), so I have great odds there.
Now, I am sad to say that I have a 1:132 chance of having a baby with T21 (Down Syndrome). I know that these odds r better than some, but I am still scared that my baby is going to have DS .
My Dr is recommending that I undergo an amnio, to rule out the possibility of DS altogether.
I have spoken to Richard and he seems to think that we should do the amnio, but I just dont know. I mean, I want to know for sure, but I am just so scared of what might be. But I just dont know if I can go thru the rest of my pg'y, wondering, u know.
I also found out that I am very low in iron and my blood pressure is only 90/50, so now I know why I am feeling lightheaded/dizzy everyday . I am now taking an iron supplement, so hopefully I will start to feel better very soon .
Any comments will be taken on board, I can assure u. Thanks for u support ladies .

Di ~ I would say that the amnio would be totally up to you. At this point in your pg'y would you mentally be able to change anything? Or would you love the baby no matter what? That is a tough decision.

Well, remember Dianne, your chances of baby NOT having downs are more than 131 out of 132. I am sure those odds are just the basic statistics of age an DS. And yours are good, in general, a woman that is 41 at delivery is 1/85 and one who is 42 at delivery time has a 1/67 chance of downs, obviously your screening came back awesome and its just an age statistic that gives that %.
amnio can be great, as it will put your mind at rest. I was offered amnio, but was too chicken, lol... same with NT and triplescreen. I didnt want to know.

Good point carrie,
for me, my thinking was that I wanted to try to just enjoy my pregnancy, I wanted to just think of my Baby, not my DS baby or whatnot. Pablo and I decided we would have him/her regardless.
But I can see how worrying about possible DS can just as easily take the joy away.

Re: Nuchal Translucency & Combine Screening Results.........
I'm faithful that all will be fine. I had a T18 girl loss at age 38, and a T21 boy at 41. Then I had Kevin at 42 and all was well. I never made it to amnio point with either of them, but had it will all my other live births, and never had a problem. Just follow your heart. You'll know what to do.

Where did I come from?" the baby asked its mother. She answered, half-crying, half-laughing, and clasping the baby to her breast: "You were hidden in my heart as its desire, my darling. You were in the dolls of all my childhood games. In all my hopes and my loves, in my life, in the life of my mother, and in her mother before her, you have lived."
