Bored hungry kids!!! Ack! That is scary indeed!

dont worry... i agree that a flat plate ab xray is probably good enough
basically the are just trying to determine the area where the clips are.
And checking uterine health.
I personally think that if you can find the clips via/regular xray, then that is a better option.
HSG's arent very comfortable, and often, the dye doesnt go where it should anyhow because the tube spasms. we already KNOW the dye wont flow, theres CLIPS in there, lol...
All the doctors work together there, they all have the same ethics and all of them are highly trained reproductive endocrinologists. I had heard that Dr Cheung was no longer doing surgeries.
Just to let you know, here is an article about the surgeon you are seeing....
"Peter McComb graduated in medicine from the University of Western Australia in 1972. His interest in fertility promoting surgery was stimulated by training in London, England with Dr. Robert Winston and, later in Vancouver, with Dr. Victor Gomel. He also had the good fortune to perform research that is related to fertility surgery at the University of Washington in Seattle. He is now a professor at UBC.
Over the last 23 years he has established a database to determine the success of the different types of fertility operations – especially laparoscopic and microsurgical procedures. This helps in the decision making for the best choice of treatment. It has also prompted the development of more successful surgical techniques."

he seems pretty qualified to me.
If he said flat plate or abdominal xray, then that is what they will do.
Dont worry. I know you want to make sure there are no mistakes, and i am sure there arent.
The tubes are going to come out regardless. And once they open you up, they will see where the tubes are exactly if it wasnt pinpointed in the xray anyhow.
Dr Cheung had said to me, that the HSG could end up being inconclusive due to tube spasms and that if that was the case, he may do a laparoscopy! ouch! so basically, they just want to look at your insides, look for cysts that might be in the way, or uterine abnormalties. The vaginal u/s will show them all that.
You are on the right track.
also, I was originally sent to Dr. C. Allaire , but what happens is, regardless of who your dr sends you to, the specialist at the time is the one that will see you. They decide amongst themselves who will handle the surgery. So even if you wanted Cheung, chances are you would not have got him, because he isnt doing surgeries anyhow.
