May be a stupid ? but worth a shot to ask...

As you all know Im getting my reversal done this coming Wednesday and Im curious about something. I didnt ask my surgeon as my mind goes to a blank on most things when I went to my appointments. Was more worried on being told yes or no for my surgery and getting it booked..LOL Anyways, Is it ok that my DH and I have intercourse up until the day of the surgery? chances are we wont be able to do anything past tuesday afternoon...but am just curious. Not sure if I would be up to it at all after today, since Im so worried and busy getting things in order for my babysitters. I will be asking the nurse if it was ok for us to have done it when she calls me Tuesday afternoon.

Oh, yes, im sure it's fine.
Although, for cleanliness reasons (in case they were needing for some reason to do an internal vaginal thing, ) i opted not to do anything. Also, because I had a catheter in, I didnt want to risk the chance of pushing bacteria from intercourse up the urinary tract. I have had a few urinary tract infections after the catheter. yech.
The hsg they do after the surgery will be flushing out anything in the tubes anyhow, so theres no chance of any sperm starting something that quickly,

I was worried about the semen in the vaginal area....so how many days prior to TR do you suggest we not do anything? 24 hrs atleast? Think I will cut him off Monday night..LOL Just becasue Im worried.
Catheter, you mean the one that goes into the bladder right? Would I need that? I had one when I had my older 2 boys, and Im not sure with any other procedures if I did have that in or not during operation.
Also....Im due to ovulate either a day or so befor or just after operation, would the HSG interfere with that? My DH is wanting to have intercourse pretty much right away just to start to conceive..hes a little weirdo when it comes to that, and I told him I am not sure Im up to it or feeling right to TTC right away after procedure. Rather wait till next cycle just so I dont risk any infections.

Ask your Dr's opinion.
I was told to wait one full cycle , and was told to give the tubes at least two weeks for the swelling to go down. (although many women try right away)
For me, i was in so much pain for the first two weeks following my surgery, there was no WAY I would even consider ttc, LOL... Some women have a much easier time and feel great right away, but for me, the first week was just a blur of pain. I have no idea why. I sailed through all my c-sections, but wow, my abdomen felt like it had been run over by a truck.
I thought " heck, we waited this long, why not wait til one full cycle." Then I knew all the pain meds were out of my system etc. I was so scared that my inscision would hurt when i got preggo, and in truth, the tenderness never really went away. But of course, they dont at ALL touch your uterus, so its quite safe to be preggers right away

Im pretty much set on waiting a cycle befor trying...I have never had my tummy cut open, so right now Im a bit unsure of how it will feel...I told my DH that yes I could try right away, but I want to wait it out and see how it is afterwards. To be honest, I was back to having intercourse after my boys were born within a week or so...so Im a bit unsure of how this will feel and just not totally with it to how all you other TR women have felt. I do beleive you that it felt like a truck ran you over, Im very scared to know how that feels..LOL I had a D&C done in 1999, I had my tubes tied (belly button incision) and I had my teeth extracted in 2003, so to really know how that feels is not in my books. I had all my boys naturally, with very little medsand cutting(ripping), my older 2 with epidurals, so im just on the dum side when it comes to having incisions done.

My doctor (Dr mcComb) told my DH and myself that we could start trying the day after. Im not too keen on that idea..LOL but if I am up to it, was just curious as to how the ovulation would be. As for the intercourse befor TR, Im going to say no by monday night, it be no point anyways, as Im very selfconcious on myself down there when it comes to dr appointments etc. So to be on the safe side Im not going to.

wow, its 59 more hours away my surgery, if Im doing the calculations right..LOL 9pm sunday night, surgery is booked for 8am wednesday...

Getting extremely excited,nervous, scared and more.

So exciting!!!
As for ovulation , yes it can get messed up just because, your body is going through an ordeal.
And as for pain, well, some women on these boards will tell you it was very manageable.
I was on Morphine for two days following the reversal and then codeine after that so umm, i was in no shape for anything, LOL
But I know Leslies sister in law, Lmwilliams, on the boards here, hers went really great, she was feeling great. Some women just felt fine.
I think its because he was in there for a long time, and maybe had the clamps on too tight, who knows. Some dr.s dont even use the retractor, or use a special kind. Maybe My dr, as successful as he was, just wasnt up on the least painful way of getting it done

My ovulation has been messed up for a while I think...Im not too worried on that, as I had an irregular cycle prior to my TL, but more noticable after my TL...so hoping with my worries of giving my DH a child, and my wanting another child and stuff, goes away and fixes my cycles..It may it may not, it was the chance of getting the TR that was needed to maybe have that chance of it working out in many ways that I wanted

As for pain, im pretty good with it.My dr says he should only be in there for a couple of hours, but either way. I will handle the pain, because its giving me the chance to have a baby with my DH. .Im starting to worry on the incision area and my clothing..I have alot of hip hugger jeans that sit just above the area that I read it would be...But Im sure I can lounge around in my jammies and my joggers for awhile. Considering the weathers suppsoed to be nice..HOPE it stays..LOL

I agree with Shilo on the holding off on having sex prior to ur TR and for the same reasons

When I had my TR, I was not due to get AF for another wk afterward, but having the surgery bought AF on 2 days later

.

My DH & I did not have sex for 2 1/2 wks after my surgery and guess what, when we did, we caught that egg, yes I found out I was pg 4 1/2 wks after my TR

.

Annick, I am sure that all will go well, oh and yes, u will feel like u have been hit by a truck, but it only lasts about a wk or so and is soooo worth it
