IUI #1 This Weekend????????
I'm going for my first IUI this weekend and I'm not sure what to expect.
#1 I mean is it uncomfortable, is there any pain?
#2 Do you have to take it easy after?
#3 Can you resume excerise or should you wait a few day?
#4 Can you go swimming or should you wait a few days?
#3 How long before the IUI do you have to refrain from sex?
I go for my ultrasound on Thursday now and i'm gonna ask all these questions then. Depending how the u/s goes i should be doing the IUI Sat or Sun so i just want to be a little prepared
Any finfo would be wonderful
Thanks Vera

Re: IUI #1 This Weekend????????

I dont think that iui is painful, from what I have heard, it is less uncomfy or similar to a pap....
When they do iui, they place the sperm up past the cervix, up into the uterus so that they can go to work
Swimming is fine i am sure....
I have actually heard that sex is encouraged afterward , no harm in having even MORE swimmers
Maybe give your cervix the day off though.
As far as exercise, im sure it is fine (but someone with more experience in this could be of better help)
For me, Ive always been afraid to exercise after ovulation just in case i shake the lil bean loose.
I know THAT is totally medically unfounded but im just silly like that.
Then starts weeks of laziness....
well, this time, i resumed exercise afterward and had bleeding and was told that the placenta wasnt attached well... but they ASSURED me that exercise had nothing to do with it. I however saw it as a further reason to be lazy

Re: IUI #1 This Weekend????????
Congrats on your first (and only I hope ) IUI! I will try and answer your questions if I can!
|
#1 I mean is it uncomfortable, is there any pain?
|
For most women, no it is not painful. A tad uncomfortable, but less so than a HSG and way quicker, in and out in a couple minutes. Then they usually have you lay there and relax for 15 or 20
|
#2 Do you have to take it easy after?
|
No, not really, it isn't really much different than dtd, except now your swimmers are already half way to the finish line instead of still at the starting line. Course it wouldn't hurt to go home and take a nap or lay out in the sun for an hour or so LOL
|
#3 Can you resume excerise or should you wait a few day?
|
I am honestly not sure sorry
|
#4 Can you go swimming or should you wait a few days?
|
Welllll, I would ask your Dr.......it was winter so that never came up
|
#3 How long before the IUI do you have to refrain from sex?
|
Most RE's want you to have sex about 48 hours before he has to "deposit" at the time of IUI. That way the "pipes" are clear, but there are plenty of fresh ones too. (does that make sense?) You can have relations the same day after IUI and it is often encouraged
Hope that helps
What meds does he have you on? Have they checked your follies yet? KUP!Good luck!

Re: IUI #1 This Weekend????????
I hear ya with the lazy in the 2ww wait period. I used to kickbox and weight train, i stopped after my tubal reversal and i have gain 15lbs. In the 2ww i'm afraid to do anything. I know i did all that when i conceived all my others. I was a fitness freak but now i'm so afraid to do the wrong thing in that 2ww. Its so silly how I think about it more now that I'm trying then before when i wasn't and it just happened....lol Well all i got to say is the hubby loves all the bd'ing.....lol

Re: IUI #1 This Weekend????????
carriemb - I'm on 50mg of clomid and i go for a scan on thursday morning to see how i'm progressing. My left tube is blocked so if i'm o'ing on that side we're gonna cancell. The clomid i think i supposed to give me a boost and maybe i'll get both sides going. I have great ovary function on my own. I even twinned on my own before so i think it was just to boost our chances this month.

Re: IUI #1 This Weekend????????
Thanks ladies i really appriciate all the support. I am so excited to do this but so scared at the same time. I have my heart set on a baby so bad and i just want this to work!!!!!!! They say good things come to those who wait so if it don't work i'll just have to wait a little longer, but i'll be worth it in the end no matter how long it takes!!!!!!!
