I think my u/s tech is on crack!!!
Ok went to the new OB today and he wanted another U/S due to me still bleeding after four weeks. So I waited over an hour and she calles me back she is getting great views of both babies and asked if we were going to find out the sex of the babies and I said quickly and sarcastically " if I could find out today I would" well she goes on to tell me she knows and can tell me. OK so keep in mind I'm only 11 weeks! So she goes to baby A and says it's a girl well even tough I have four I was ok with that because I keep saying B is a boy but then she goes to baby b and it has the same looking part as A does and both parts looked like a bone or something sticking straight twords the feet not up. Everything says it is too early to tell so why does this tech think she is that good, is it possible? Really should I even think for a minute that they are girls? I'm now upset that she said anything at all.
I need input please tell me what you know and think.

Cheryl I would have cracked up laughing at the u/s tech. I have not heard of anyone able to tell that early. Don't get to worked up just yet. On the bright side you know how to raise a girl. And then you get to try again for your boy. I wish you all the best.

Cheryl, There is no way to tell that early..They can tell if it a boy at 12 weeks sometimes.I dont even think you can tell they are boys tell after 12 weeks. At 12 weeks they can usually tell if its a boy but they like to wait unitl 20 weeks because the girls vagina hasnt formed until then and usually if they see no turtle they say girl..Its to early sweety..I bet you got a boy in there girly...Stupid woman

Re: I think my u/s tech is on crack!!!
I agree with u Cheryl, ur u/s tech is on crack and I would take what she said as a grain of salt. It is impossible to know the gender of a baby at 11 wks, I would be pissed at that tech big time
Both boys and girls look very similar that early in the game. Wait until u have ur 18 wk u/s, then u should know for sure .

Re: I think my u/s tech is on crack!!!
This is what i read before when talking about the part that sticks up on a certain angle (different than the gender determination looking for the three lines of the labia but that info is also on the same web page, although a less correct determinaion at 80%)
"The 172 women were all scanned transabdominally. Using a midline sagittal scan with the fetus supine and the spine parallel to the transducer face (sound lines perpendicular) ‘without extension of the spine or limbs’, angles were drawn on an image of the genital area with a line through the genital tubercle and another through the lumbosacral skin line. Male fetuses were characterised by an angle >300 (angle increases with age) and a females by parallel or convergent lines (angle <300). In other words, the phallus was vertical/cranially directed in males and caudally directed in females. At 12 weeks the accuracy of gender assignment was 98.7% and at 13 weeks the accuracy was 100%. There was incorrect assignment of males as females in 3% at 12 weeks and no females assigned as males after 12 weeks. The authors therefore conclude that ‘a final decision on invasive testing for sex-linked conditions should be undertaken only after 12 weeks of gestation’.

Re: I think my u/s tech is on crack!!!
I had the first trimester screening test with my son Manuel (who was a fetal demise at 15 weeks.) I was only 12 weeks along and they were able to determine the gender accurately. This pregnancy I will be having the screen at 11 weeks (trying to think positive that I'll actually get that far) and was told that gender identification was 80+% accurate at that point depending on the proficiency of the tech. To determine male gender they look at the "angle of the phallus." For a girl they look for the "3 line sign." I'm including a link about early gender determination by u/s. Hope this helps!

That said, what type of ultrasound was it? 3D and 4D are more accurate. Also, did the tech tell you she used either of these methods? She doesn't sound very professional. She should have explained why she thought both were girls.
Anyway, I'm sitting here going crazy waiting for my doctor's office to call me back with my second beta level. Since 10 a.m. I've alternately convinced myself that I'm having an ectopic pregnancy, a molar pregnancy, and twins. If the doctor waits much longer to call me I think I will need a straight jacket.

I almost forgot. If you remember what was on the screen and like to drive yourself crazy like me (LOL!), here is a site with early gender u/s pics. I don't think they have any as early as 11 weeks, though.
