Got Dates for IVf
This is detailed as best as I could do so I might make since.
Ok well I went back to the dr yesterday. It is looking like I will take 2 days of Lupron on 12-30 and 12-31 Then on 1-1-08 I start Stim Day 1. I will have to do Lupron shots twice a day for Stim day 1 through 10. I will have to take Gonal-F SC from Stim Day 1- 10 I think Menopur SC shot Stim day 1-10. Baby Asprin for weeks, Doxycline twice a day. HCG shot around Stim day 8,9,10,or 11 With ER date around 1/12/08. Then I keep taking doxycycline, and on Retrieval day I start taking Medrol shot 1 x day Retrieval day - R Day 6, and Take Pegesterone in oil R day 1-- for months if I get a BFP, also Vivelle patch R day 1-8 I think.
So I guess if Ret. is 1/12/08 then Transfer will be around 1/15- 1/17 so I go for Betas around 1/29.
I'm excited but all those shots are getting me really scared! And I don't understand why even if I get a BFP I will have to still take the baby aspirin, Progesterone, Endomentrin, and Vivelle for at least 2-4 more weeks.
If any of you understand any of this and would like to tell me what you know I would be greatful. Also Side Effects?
Carrie when do you go back to the Dr?
Dianne Congrats on the boy! Was your DH ready to scream it out to the world?

Re: Got Dates for IVf
okay, I am sleepy here so forgive me if I am an idiot!
The baby asprin is to keep blood thin, so you don't clot.
The progesterone, (could be wrong in my wording here) I just looked it up and read through a bunch of clinical crap: The common thought is that women with IVF have a higher rate of miscarraige than natural pg and the progesterone shots through the first trimester help to avoid m/c.
However several recent studies have concluded that it doesn't make a significant difference.
Personally, I don't care, I will take it.
*EXCEPT~ I don't know how much you have read on this, but most of the other IVF women say this is the worst shot (progesterone in Oil) hurts, bumps and itchy butt too! They say the rest of them are a piece of cake!
As for my Dr appt, when AF gets here I call and set up an u/s and/or 3 day FSH. I am a tad confused on when exactly I am starting drugs, it was so much to take in and I didn't think I was going to be able to do it anyways.
What I do know is that I have these ones at the RE's already:
3 900gonal F pens
1 300gonal F pen
1 200mcg Ovadril
5 vials cetrodide
and I will have Doxicycline, methilprednislone, and progesterone after ET......

Re: Got Dates for IVf
also, if you have questions, the ladies at the IVF board are all very good about answering questions. Alot of them have stuck around after BFP's (just like here) or are trying for a second baby..........but they do answer and quite quickly.
Ya know, one thing my RE told me is scary. He told me he will transfer 3 embies for me, says don't worry all three rarely take..........but we do have a lady have tripletts, one embie took and divided and another implanted, the third passed, but still 3 babies!
ummmmmm twins would be awesome.....but three is scary LOL

Re: Got Dates for IVf
I am not doing IVF, but recently I miscarried, and in trying to prevent it, my dr ordered me progesterone shots. Honestly they were not that bad, but I only took 4 of them. They did not hurt, but I imagine, in all honesty, that taking them twice a day for maybe many days, would eventually be a pain in the butt, literally Just dont do what I did, and forget to switch the needle from the big to small to inject. I did that on my 4th shot, and OMG!! Dont need to say anymore, but remember!! Good luck!!! It sounds complicated, but exciting, and I wish you well!

Re: Got Dates for IVf
Hi Cheryl.
I was told that too, that it is rare for all 3 to take.
I was warned (by my RE) before my cycle of doing injectables with IUI that there is no selective reduction as there is with IVF. I don’t mind because that is something I would NOT consider anyways. I made 5 mature follies!! I’m in the 2WW.
I truly believe that you’re not dealt with anything more than you can’t handle mentally, emotionally, financially, spiritually. God given = God take care of. Sorry for the mush.
Jon & Kate with 8 got their crew with the method I just did. It looks like they’re making it just fine.
Try not to worry. Be excited!! I'm excited for you and Carrie.
