Good News for a change
Well, since I always tell everyone about the crappy stuff in my life, I thought I would switch it up a bit!
I took my mom shopping at walmart the other day, and on the way home I finnaly broke down and told her that we had been TTC and needed IVF to get pg (she naturally said, thought DH couldn't have kids, so obviously my big mouth sister told that one) I explained that we had reversed that over a year ago. She wanted to know hwy I kept it such a big secret and I told her I didn't want everyone asking things constantly. As a matter of a fact I asked her not to tell my father, cuz he tells his brothers everything (13 of them) So it is like advertising the paper, kwim?
I explained everything to her, she said "we don't have money" duhhh I told her I was just telling her because she is my mom and I wanted to talk to her.
Well an hour after I came home she called me. Said she told my dad I needed money for something important but didn't want to talk about it. he asked her if she knew what is was and she said yes. He gave her a credit card, and said if I made the payments he would add me as a user.
I told her I would think about it and let her know. I mean if I miss a payment or something on my credit it's one thing. But most likely I will go ahead and do it, it is just hard, Ihaven't accepted help since I moved out on my own.
But here is the bottem line:
I was approved for Compassion Care-Sereno sent almost $4 grand worth of drugs to my RE's office and they called and told me it arrived.
They won't give me Lupron, Antibiotics, Progesterone, and I think trigger shot, but those are the lesser $
I signed up for a health discount program through Avon, the finance lady at the RE's said she didn't think it would do anything, but would check anyways. She called me and it gave me another $3grand off of the Dr's fees!
So I will owe the RE $6100 for the IVF (instead of $9000).
Plus have to come up with $ if I need assisted hatching, or fert of more than 10 eggs.
The $6100 I can put on the card, so I figure about another $1500 out of pocket...............what do you ladies think?
sorry so long and rambling.

Re: Good News for a change
I think you have come this far girly, don't look back!!! You are on your way. That is awesome that your Dad will lend you the credit card with no questions asked, what a good Dad! Everything is falling into place for a reason...It is meant to happen!!!
Stay focused and go for it! I'm totally happy. I was sooo excited when I read your post. And, I honestly think this was meant to be.
Your IVF cost is really good. At my RE the IVF is $12000 but insurance covers $5000 of the meds and monitoring, my out of pocket would be $7100.
I'm really excited!!
Give your Dad a big thanks because not only is he lending you the money, he's making it possible for you to make his grand baby.
(((Carrie))) Finally good things are coming your way.

Re: Good News for a change
Carrie, I think it's great that you've been able to find a way to do this. Your dad will be thrilled when he gets his grandchild. And I know you'll be super-careful to make payments on time. It's win-win for everyone!
I'm very happy for you!

Re: Good News for a change
I have to wait for AF to arrive, then do the 3day FSH, plus HIV test for both DH and I (required by law within 30days of IVF) then I think Lupron on day 6 of cycle, so last week of November?

Re: Good News for a change
Carrie I'm so excited for you. I hope we can help each other through the big process, I think you will be a head of me though. I'm 6 days into my bc but I am going to wait 1 more cy to do it after Christmas. I think that will put me starting the shots a day or two after Christmas so my ER will be around Jan 10th or so. I will go tomorrow to the big class on it all tomorrow afternoon.
So how is your husband handling it? I bet he was in shock when you found out that now you could do it. Oh please keep me up to date on every little detail I want to understand it all.

Re: Good News for a change
Cheryl,
I really hope this will be it for both of us! I didn't have a big class, I had a long consult, DR, then a nurse that showed mu a quick run through on how to do the shots, plus she was going to send a DVD home with me but we both forgot.
She said they will have me practice the next appt. (I think)
Let me know how your class goes tomorrow!
Is your insurance covering anything?
My RE doesn't do the b/c, just lupron for supression. and *gulp* he does a 3dt, but will transfer 3 embies.....
BTW, January 10 is agreat day for a ER.......(my bday )

Re: Good News for a change
No we have to pay for all the cost my insurance don't cover any of it. No b/c well that kind of good it's making me stay sick to my stomach. I wonder if the shots will also? I'm going to tell them tomorrow that I need something for it. Yep will I think Jan 10th will be a great day then. I just hate having to take the shot through my birthday Jan 8th because really won't feel like doing much, by then i'll most likely be ready to kill someone! I'm alittle nervous about all the process. I hope for a 5d blast and he will only transfer 2. It's crazy how each ER has their on way.

Re: Good News for a change
Cheryl Will you be taking Gonal F (injectable shots) for your IVF?..I know Carrie said she was. If so, I just finished a cycle of them and LOVED it. I had no side effects, moodiness, bloating or headaches at all.
Carrie, How's Ohio State been playing this year. They play Michigan this weekend. Too bad we couldn't meet for the game and have some drinks. We both can't be doing none of that for awhile anyways!
Keep us posted on everything with your IVF. I'm really excited. Your transfer is going to be here before you know it!

Re: Good News for a change
<<How many more days before you poas>>
Carrie - You silly girl!!! You know we don't wait to poas around here!
I did this morning. But with the hcg in the trigger it isn't a real reliable result. Today is 9 days since the trigger and 8 days since IUI. They say it takes about 10 days for the trigger to get out of your system. It was positive so I'll keep on testing, I have 20 hpts. My plan is if it stays positive until Monday then I'll go for a beta on Tuesday.
How often do you have to get a beta done? We were going to go to the U.P. for Thanksgiving (mil's) but I told dh we might have to stay local if betas are needed?
