justwanted to say surgery is over. he said i had 4in and 6in. does a shorter tube mean u can get preg easier? And did you have alot of draining from the Q pump? I went to the ER because I was hurting under my ribcage. They said it was a big air buble. That hurts! Did you have any of that. And let me know about the tubes being that short on one side! Thanks Candice
hi there
actually, its done in cm.
And as long as you have 4cm, thats good.
The tube length is important because the egg matures as it travels from the ovary down the tube. The egg is fertilized in the tube, and then continues downward where it will implant into the uterus.
I did have alot of gas pains afterward, but I did not have a pump of any sort.
Maybe Leslie can help you with the pump question. on your reversal!

Your lucky you got told the tube lengths, my surgeon didnt tell me mine..LOl Just gave my DH the thumbs up and said good luck etc. As for the pain pump, I wish I had that, Im still in pain, not much today....Ive taken so much T1s with codeine, cant take T3s, too afraid considering it makes me sicker than ever when i take it. Guess we will be TTC together huh..hehe. Do take it easy and rest, Im doing the same..with 4 boys, hockey practice and school its sort of hard.

Hey again! Thanks for all the good luck I feel better, but yesterday I was in severe pain. They tol me to go to the ER fast. Long story short I had a huge air bubble under my liver. Not fun at all. Anyways I don't know much on the tube length just that he said 4 am left and the right one was 6 cm long. Does a shorter tube mean you could easily get pregnant with twins maybe? Well I hope everthing works out OK.Thanks for all the hope you gave me and the good luck!! I need it. I just hope they dont close up or have a worse problems. Thanks to all!!! ttyl
Hi Candice, I am not sure if you read my response to your question about tube lengths, but I will repeat myself anyhow.
If tubes are too short, pregnancy will not happen.
When you ovulate, the egg gets carried down your tube with little tiny fine hairs that swoosh it along.
Along its journey, it meets up with sperm.
The sperm fertilizes it in your tube.
Then, the egg continues to develop until it reaches your uterus.
If your tube is very short, then the egg will not have enough time to develop before reaching the uterus, and no pregnancy will occur.
Tubes have nothing to do with twins.
Twins are dependent on the egg, and are dependent on what happens when the sperm meets the egg.
If you havent become pregnant in 6 months, an hsg is a good way to make sure your tubes are wide open
Best of luck!

As far as the pain pump.Mine leaked to and Leahs also did.I am glad its over for you.Now on to ttc....Sorry about the gas bubble. Now lets see some bfp!!!!!
Lmfinnegan, thanks girl! Do you know if he does the dye in the tubes in surgery?I need to call him and ask him a few things. I think it went well. I am also worried about them closing up!! He told my husband I had 4 cm and 6 cm. Is that OK you think? He said I had alot of scar tissue on that one tube. Anyways just wondering what you thought about it. ttylater I hope!! Thanks Again
Yes they do a Hsg in surgery. The lengths sound good to me.The one side Is a little short.I have seen people get pregnant with that length. The other side is good.I bet you see a bfp very soon.
Where in Texas are you at?I am in Houston. If you told me forgive me I forgot.
Lmfinnegan,I live close to waco.Do you know what side needs to be longer? I know its a stupid question but I was just wondering. He said that the left is 4 cm and the right was 6 cm.
Candice,
You have two ovaries, and each ovarie has a tube that connects it to your uterus.
Each month one of your ovaries will make an egg that will go down the tube.
You ovulate from one side, or the other, depending on which ovary makes the best egg that month.
So, if you ovulate from your right ovary this month, the egg will travel down your right tube to the uterus, if you ovulate from the left ovary, then the egg will travel down your left tube.
There is no way to predict which ovary will release an egg each month.

Well now I feel stupid! LOL You would think after three kids I would know these things stupid me!I guess I better hope the egg goes down the right then huh? Thanks ladies your great
You can see the ovary, sitting on the end of the fallopian tube...the lumps and bumps in the ovary are eggs, the ovary that produces the biggest egg will release it, and the fimbria bring it from the ovary, down the tube and into the uterus.
Hope this helps.

Well I know he whole pic thing. But wasnt for sure your egg released on both sides. I guess I never realy thought about it. But thanks for the BIG PIC>!!
You're welcome
By your questions about the twins, and about maybe shorter tubes being better etc, I just wasnt sure if you understood how everything worked together.
I know that for alot of us, when we first came to the boards, we didnt know alot about the whole process, and I have learned SO much from all these wonderful ladies!
