I have finally found a little time, so I will try and get my birth story out to u all b4 'Nate' wakes up

.
Well, as u all probably remember, I posted on April 1 that my waters had broken around 4.30am

.
I went to bed around 10.30pm Monday night and was awoken around 12.30am with excruiating pains in my belly...ouch!! I got up to use the bathroom and completely emptied my bowels, so obviously the pain was from wanting to use the loo...darn!!
Went back to bed and at around 4.15, I noticed that I was a little wet down there, so automatically assumed I had peed myself a little. So up again to use the loo and nothing more happened at this point, so I got back into bed. DH had his alarm set for around 4.30am to get up for work, so after the alarm went off, DH got up and went about getting ready for work as usual. I was still in bed and it seemed that everytime I would roll over, I would wet myself. I had a bigger gush and slid a finger under my knickers to feel what it was and it just felt all slimy, nothing like pee should feel. I got up again and by the time I got to the bathroom, I was gushing everywhere......woohooo!!!
I got my pj's on and came out the kitchen to tell DH that he was 'not' going to work today

. I think I had the look of :shock on my face, because was quite concerned when he first saw me (I never get up when DH is going to work).
So, we head back to bed, waiting for cx's to kick in and in the mean time, DH has had to get my like 2 towels, as I am soaking everything in sight. I got up again around 6.30am, as I could not go back to sleep, thinking of the anticipation that was about to happen (but didn't

). So what so I do, get on the computer and start letting everyone on SK's know that my 'Waters had Broken'

.
I called my mum around 8am (she was coming to help out with our Tarsha), then I called my Dr and she said I needed to get straight to the hospital.
I am not sure if u all recall, but I posted a few times about my LO's head 'NOT' being engaged and sitting at -4 station, well my Dr was concerned that the cord would prolapse (come out b4 baby) and suggested I get to the hospital. I called the hospital and relayed what my Dr had said, but the midwives were not that concerned and just said to call back if & when cx's set in or if nothing happens by 6pm to call and they would get me to come in then.
Well, the hospital called my back around 10am and said that my OB would be there around 12pm and if I wanted to come in and get checked, I could.
So off we head to the hospital around 11.45am. We arrive and the OB finally gets there around 1pm. He does an internal (my first BTW) and kindly tells me that I am not at all dilated and my cervix is still long and tightly closed

. He opted not to induce that day, as he did not want to put my in any unnecessary pain with my cervix being so long and not effaced. He said that if nothing happened over night, then they would induce first thing Wednesday morning. We got a pretty good nights sleep, I can tell u

. OB wanted me to stay at the hospital, as baby's head was still not engaged in pelvis and did not want to risk 'cord prolapse'. We agreed to stay, of course!!
Wednesday morning we were awoken at 5.45am and told to shower and get ready for our induction

. I was so excited and nervous.
Headed into L&D at 7am, where I had a light breakfast and they set up the 'Syntocin' for my induction. By 10am I was feeling some mild AF type pains, but nothing I could not handle. I stayed on my feet for the majority of the time.
By 11am, I was feeling the cx's, which were coming every 2 minutes and lasting anywhere between 35 & 45 seconds long, but still, they were nothing I couldn't handle. I also began feeling some pressure on my cervix and rectum and the nurse said these were all good signs, so she decided to check me. I said to the nurse, I am probably only 2cm dilated and I almost cried when she said that I was right, but she could stretch me to 3cms

. I thought we were going to be in for a long day and I would be screaming for the 'epidural'

.
About an hour later, cx's were still only 2 mins apart and still only lasting between 35 - 4 secs long, but the were definately building in intensity

. By 12.05pm, after being on my feet the whole time, I decided it was time for some 'Nitros Oxide' (gas), so I jumped up onto the bed and began sucking on the gas with each cx. It helped alot and certainly took the 'Peek' of the cx's. By 12.15pm, I told DH to go and get the nurse, as I was beginning to bear down with each cx. The nurse came in (she was fantastic BTW) while I was having a cx and heard that I was bearing down, she asked if I felt like pushing and I said yes, so she checked me and I was almost at 10 with a little bit of cervix left, so she pushed that out of the way and then boy, did I want to push.
With 3 big almighty pushes and a hell of a lot of screaming (by me

), Nate's head was crowning. Once his head was out, the midwife noticed that the cord was wrapped tightly around his little neck, so she told me to start panting, which I did. With one more push (after the cord had been unravelled), our precious little boy 'NATE RICHARD BALDACCHINO' arrived safe & sound at 12.33pm.
As soon as they placed him on my belly, I just burst into tears, wow, what an emotional experience (even though this was #6, the emotions r the same), DH was already crying aswell.
I was then told that the cord had been tightly around Nate's neck, 3 times, yes 3 times, I could not believe it. So the concerns I had about baby's head not engaging, where definately founded, it was just ashame that my OB did not listen to me, when I asked him for an u/s 6 days b4 delivery.
While Nate was on my belly, he pooped everywhere, what a wonderful experience

, we r so in love with our little man. The nurses cleaned him up a little and then weighed/measured him.
I was told that he would weigh over 8lbs, so u can imagine our surprise, when he only weighed 6lbs 8oz and was 49cms in length. He is my smallest baby, my biggest being 9lbs 4 1/2oz.
Thanks for letting me share this wonderful experience with u all

.
Here r a few pics of our beautiful boy - Nate!!
