Icon13 Trying for 2 months now

I've been off Depo for almost 3 months and we have been trying for baby #2 for the last 2 months, but no luck so far, I'm still spotting on and off. Help anyone?

Holly

Unfortunately, that sounds normal. It could take up to a year to get your cycles back to normal. And basically, until your cycles are normal, you *probably* won't concieve. My last shot of depo was in August of 01, and my cycles have been regular since April 02, and we're still not pg.

It is so depressing.

Good Luck to you!! Have you talked to the doctor at all? I would reccomend it. I waited too long, I wish I would've talked to mine at least a year ago, I could have a baby already...or two! LOL

Hang in there girl.

Hi Holly, hang in there it will happen. I was TTC for baby#4 after depo to no avail, It took 6 months to get af back and another year after that to get pg, so 18 months all up, Once you do get pg it should balance your system up and falling pregnant a second time after depo is no problem. I am now on my 3rd baby after depo and all is fine. If you would like to priv msg me I can put you onto a good support group in the meantime, Good luck

Thanks guys!!! I was feeling pretty alone for a while, glad to know that im not alone. Ive heard that there is a pill that you can take to get your cycles back to normal, anyone know what thats about? I hate going to the doctors, I avoid it as much as possible, but I will call soon and see whats going on with me. Thanks again for the replies!

Holly

HI Holly,

Sorry you are having to go through this. Depo does some nasty things to you. It puts your body into a menopausal type state and it can take anywhere from 4months to 3 years before one is able to conceive again.

Your best bet in tracking your progress is chartting your cycles. Fertility Friend is a great place to start. See when depo is still in your system your BBT (basal Body Temps) will be all over the charts and very inconsistant, but as depo starts to leave your system your hormones will start to normalize and you will start to actually ovulate and have regular cycles again. I found chartting to be the best way for me to "feel" in control, yk?!

I also found Zinc to help me along my way as well as Dong Quai (or Angelica) which can also help aide in the speed of recovery after depo-provera. I also used some OTC progesterone cream.

You can read about my personal story with depo-provera at my website http://www.angelfire.com/journal2/Ce...dex.page2.html

LMK if you'd like anymore help.
