Icon5 newbie here w/?????

Hey guys! My name is Sarah (or as some call me...Sadie) and I'm the mother to a wonderful little girl, age 4. My depo story starts after my last m/c in January. At the post-m/c check-up, I was asked if I was wanting to TTC again soon. I told him absolutely NOT. He then asked "well, how soon is soon, for you? a few months? few years?" I told him at least a year. He suggested some options and I chose depo b/c it seemed so easy. this is a decision I now regret. I've thought about the fact that I may not want to wait that long....I'm not nessesarily TTC right now, but at the same time, I'm not against the idea. I'm wondering how long it'll take to come off depo after only 1 injection? How soon it'll take to O? I know it'll be different in everyone, but is there a difference between someone who has been on it for years and someone who's only been on it for one time? I know that it's a little different as far as side-effects go...most start to see them after the 2nd or 3rd round. From what I've read at least....

So, anyone know any info for me?

Hi sarah and welcome. According tot he manufacturers there isn't a difference. They say that even after 1 shot it could take anywhere from 3 months to 3-5 years before becoming pregnant. However most MD's will tell you the averafe is 6mo to a year.

Yes there is info out there! However the only thing you can do at this point is wait! There are some herbal supplements like Vitex (aka chastberry tree extract) that many women take to help get them back on the road to fertility and health but as to when AF and or fertility will return is a crap shoot! You could get pregnant tomorrow or 5 years from now.

There are stick posts that help map out the wonderful world of temp charting and the herbal supplements that one can use and try. Charting is helpful so you can learn your body and to see if you are infact getting over depo or even ovulating.

Charting is where I tell everyone to start from because we as a support group can help one another more easily by having some sort of visual idea of what your body is doing and how it is coming off depo provera as well.

I am tired and can't think straight but I have more to post later.

any ways

Thanks for the reply. I was afraid of the "wait and see" approach. LOL But i guess it's what I'm up against. I went ahead and ordered a new basal thermometer. I chucked my old one when I made my rash decision. So...my next question is this.......when should I start temping? I have my old fertility friend account still. But I'm not sure when to start temping. After my first period? when I'm due for the shot? or just whenever I feel like it? I haven't charted since 2002-2003....so I'm going to have to get going with the flow. waiting for AF, waiting for my temp to drop, of course the big wait....the 2WW! Ugh....I'm going to try and not obsess b/c it's not like we're going to actively try right now. I just want my cycles to get normal for if and when we do decide to try. I have another question. Since we aren't looking to get preggo right away, would it be wise to get put on BCP to both prevent pregnancy (b/c I've heard it could be bad to get preggo right away....probably BS, but after a few m/c's you tend to be cautious) and to help regulate my cycle again? Or am I just asking for more trouble?

Thanks again!!!

BCP can help regulate and even jump start your cycles so it can acctuallyhelp. You can start temping right now one ot just getin the flow and two to kind of see where you are at too.

As for my weight loss, the first 30;bs was mostly water retention after I gave birth ot my last son in October. Since January when I started to diet I have lost 40 more lbs. Mostly I have done low carbing because I am a carbaholic. That's basically how I am doing it!

congrats on the weightloss!!! I have decided to change alot of my eating habits. Mostly going to just attempt eating healthier. I need to lose weight, but I'm not dying to get it done. I just want to feel better mostly. And when the time comes I want to know I'm doing everything I can to make a great baby-making machine! LOL After having a miscarriage, we tend to try and do everything "just so". And this time will be no exception I'm sure. So....let the games begin! I'll start temping asap. Dont' know when I should say my cycle starts...but hey....what does it matter?!? We're just practicing for now.

Update on me...

Still having spotting that is coming and going. I don't know if I'm driving myself mad or not, but I'm aready getting pregnancy symptoms. I thought that was for the ladies that feel desperate to get pregnant. I'm not to that point just yet, but have felt that before. Anyway, moody as heck, frequent urination, spotting, nipple changes (not sore or anything....just becoming a lot more pronounced), feeling tired all the time, bloated feeling....ok that's enough for now.

I got my Basal thermometer in the mail today!!! It came with a cute little pouch of baby dust....so sweet! So, now I can start temping in the morning. Better get my link to FF up on my siggy (which needs lots of work anyway!) Anyway...all the support is great! I just wish it were a little more busy around here....but hey, I'll take what I can get right!?!? hehehehe

Have a good day ladies!

I know I wish it were more busy too. I took the board over rescently and actually this is more activity than what was happening before I became host! LOL

I have been trying to recruit new members from my yahoo boards and my web-site (http://www.angelfire.com/journal2/CelestialEnigma ) It's a slow process but things are definitely picking up!
