Icon7 Room for a newbie?

Hi there!

I'm Novadele, although most of my friends just call me Adele. I am a plus-size ttc'er who is looking for friendship and support. I have been lurking here for awhile. I see you have a weightloss buddies thread, maybe I should post there too? My ttc efforts are on hold pending an u/s in June. Also, my RE wants me to lose some more weight. A bit of history.... I have PCOS, and last year, on the advice of my RE, I lost weight and went from 255 to 198. I did this through exercise and healthy eating. Since December, there have been a lot of stressful events in my life, and when I'm stressed... well, I eat for comfort. So, I now find myself back up at 236. I went for a follow up appt with my RE in April, and he was actually quite rude in the way he told me that I needed to get "up off my butt and back into the gym". Now granted, I know that the more weight I lose and the more muscle I build, it will increase my chances for conceiving (with my PCOS), but I was really hurt by the way he said it to me.

Anyway, after a couple of weeks of walking and riding my bike everyday, as well as hand weights, I can honestly say my legs and arms are feeling firmer, so I'm starting to feel better about it all. I have an u/s scheduled for June 8, and then a follow-up with my RE the next week, so I'm hoping I will have shed a few pounds by then.

I'm really looking forward to meeting you all!

Welcome! And yes, that was rude of your doctor to say it to you in that way! Congrats on your loss so far, and good luck

I know you've posted before, but we are still glad to have you!

A few of us are definitely lossing weight before TTC ar are just losing weight while TTC. I started January out at 277 and am now currently 231, my ultimate goal would be to get down to 177 before TTC but now I am hoping to just get below 200. My baby fever is kind of high so I'll see if I can hold off until September to TTC, LOL

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the kind welcome! I really appreciate it.

Stephanie, what a tremendous weight loss you've accomplished so far! May I ask how you're doing it? Last year my RE had suggested I try to hit 200 and level off. So he was quite impressed with the 198 (I honestly couldn't remember the last time in my adult life my weight started with a "1" ), but as I said, he was quite blunt and rude about the fact that I've regained some weight in the past few months.

Well, I had another heartpumping workout tonight, and I feel great! So for anyone and everyone who's trying to lose weight, I'd LOVE to hear how you're doing it, and what's working for you! I always find other people's stories so inspiring!

Talk to you soon!

I'm doing that controversial diet Atkins. Well more of a variation of it. I haven't followed it to the letter yet. just like most dieter's I am on again and off again. Temptations come and stess happens, I find my extended family (especially parents) cause my stress to increase and I eat for comfort too,

At the end of this last pregnancy though I reach my HIGHEST weight yet!! I was OVER 300lbs because my scale wouldn't registar me anymore (digital) So I really don't know how high it got. After the birth the water weight and pregnancy fluids left my body over the course of 3-4 weeks and I lost 30 pounds , then of course I wanted to diet but since my DS was born in October the very beginning of holiday season I decided NOT to torture myself and just wait until the new year to begin a FULL regimen diet. Since then I've been on again off again, of course.
I just aim for a 10 pound monthly goal. Not sure if I am gonna make it this month since my mom visited and i had one rough month. I am close but like tonight, I binged but there is a tomorrow and I will start fresh.

Hi Novadele,

I am currently doing the Weight Watchers program. When I really put my mind to it, it works for me. I lost 53 lbs prior to getting pregnant with DD while on WW. I fell off the wagon while on vacation (thank goodness it was a short one!), but plan to get back on today. Best of luck with your weight loss endeavors. We are here to support you, so post often and let us know how you're doing!

P/S- It's never acceptable for a health care professional to be rude to you. There are other ways in relaying an important message and kindness and understanding will more often get you there, if you KWIM .
