Default Renee-pg ? for you

Renee

When did you actually start looking pg and not just getting fatter? My belly is getting to the point where it's pooching some but I just feel fat. If I pull my belly up and tight I have a cute little pg belly but no one else can see it. I'm sure I'll be sick of it by the time the 9 months are up but I'm ready to look pg and have people notice. I'm tired of it being a "secret", I can feel my belly getting harder and I think I can actually feel where my uterus is.

One of the girls I work with is very tiny and petite and she's only 9 weeks along and you can already see her pooching. Which I knew would happen since she's so small and this is her 2nd pg (she miscarried the first).

Another question, I really don't think I've gained any weight since my last ob visit. Is that good/bad? And how can the baby be gaining weight and extra fluid be building up but I'm not gaining? I want to gain the least amount possible since I already have a ton to loose after the baby but I want to make sure we're both healthy.

Ok sorry this got so long. Thanks for your answers in advance. By the way...I hope I don't have to wait another 4-5 weeks before I feel the baby move, I'll go crazy!

Aimee

I hate to tell you this but everyone carries pregnancy differently. My one girlfriend who is also overweight was pregnant at the same time as I was with Gavin. We'd go in places together and people would ask when I was due but never her. She is only about 5'2" and about 300 lbs. I am 5'9" and was 230 when I got pregnant with Gavin. I was 284 when I delivered him though.
This time, I was 229 at my 1st appt and go in on Monday for a 20 week appt, so Iwill update the weight then. But, I was told to try to only gain 5-15 lbs. Dh thinks that is funy that they said that because Gavin was 8lbs 8ozs.
My cousin, also overweight, was told to lose 5 lbs in the first trimester, stay steady in the 2nd and only gain 5 in the 3rd. I think she gained about 50 lbs and delivered a 4lbs baby.
Anyway, all I am trying to say is everyone is different. I can't tell you when you will start to show.
It is fine tha tyou are not gaining right now. I don't think they worry abotu gain until the 3rd trimester. All your nutrients go to the baby first right now and you second, so you are feeding the baby.

Thanks for trying to answer my question....The doctor never has once told me how much weight I should try to gain. I was actually impressed that he didn't make my weight an issue. Between my 1st and 2nd appt. I gained only 3lbs. I'm going again on Tuesday so I'll be interested in seeing how much I gained this time. I weighed myself at my mom's on Sunday and if I'm remembering correctly I don't think I've gained any weight. Part of me is really happy but then I'm also worried that the baby isn't getting enough.

By the way I must have missed your post about your big u/s. Congratulations on the baby girl! How exciting, the perfect family. Will this be all for you? I still have an other 4 weeks before my u/s, I cannot wait. I just cannot believe how fast the time has gone. April is going to be here before we know it. It's almost scary, I've been around a ton of babies (used to work in a daycare) but I feel like I don't know anything. Oh well, I suppose that's natural to feel that way. Thanks again for answering my questions.

Everyone's different and every pregnancy is different. But with my First Child I didn't start looking pregnant til around 6 or 7 months. But No one ever walked up to me and asked me when i was due. When I found out i was pregnant I was 198lbs and I was 199 when i delivered. I had terrible morning sickness (all daylong) until i was like 6 months along or so. at 20 weeks we started getting it under control with medicine. I was down to 175lbs. I also had GD and PIH. but 5 days PP i was 176!!! now i'm at 192!! So, like she said everyone's different. one of the women that was due when i was didn't start to show til like8 months i think. Her OB told her she had a long trunk so the baby had tons of room in there before popping out and showing.

I think they generally say gain 20-25 pounds, but plus size I think we should only gain 15-20 pds. As long as you and your baby are healthy-thats ALL that matters! Good Luck
