Icon7 New Here-Introduction

Hello everyone,
My name is Lisa, I'm 39 yrs old, married for 6 years, and have a 2 1/2 year old daughter, Elizabeth. I've been overweight for most of my life despite being on many diets (I have lost as much as 53 lbs). Losing weight is a battle that is hard to win. We conceived our daughter quite easily (it wasn't planned, but it was very welcomed) despite my fears that I
would have fertility problems (we hadn't tried previously due to our financial situation). I had long and irregular cycles (lasting as long as 40 days) and I was concerned that being overweight was going to make conception difficult. Losing 53 lbs prior to conception helped me to conceive the first time, I'm sure. I'm 39 (and so the clock is ticking) and we would love to have another child. I was given the "Go Ahead" by my OB/GYN (in fact she said."better sooner than later and I hope to see you here in the next few months pregnant") to try and conceive. I am worried that this time around I am 50 lbs heavier (gained everything I lost prior to my last pregnancy) and that my age will make it more difficult to conceive. I started using the ClearBlue Fertility Monitor to track when I am ovulating, but we only started to try and conceive this past month. I ovulated this past month (according to the monitor), but didn't ovulate the month prior to that (that has me worried). I am contemplating starting Weight Watchers once again so that I may lose some weight as we are trying to conceive. Now you may laugh a this, but it's just not as easy to find the time to "baby dance" these days, no less have the energy. I have Fibromyalgia, and as a result I fatigue easily. I also work part-time as an RN (which can be a labor intensive job) which includes working every other weekend (leaving me to have a day off with my hubby only every other weekend. My husband works a full-time job and a part-time job and is tired when he gets home. Nevertheless, we trudge on, in hopes of having another angel. I'm sorry this is so long, but hope you have gotten to know me a bit :-). I look forward to getting to know all of you :-).

Stress can cause infertility. You may also want to try a low carb diet to help stabalize your insulin which will help increase your fertility.

Welcome and Good Luck in TTC

Thanks for the welcome, Shannon. It's nice to meet you! I found that the fertility monitor is quite good in letting me know exactly when I ovulate. I find it less labor-intensive than charting temps, and also easier since i work part-time and get up at different hours on different days. Just a suggestion if you're interested. Best of luck to you!

Welcome, Lisa!

It is hard not to imagine the worse when it comes to TTC (IMO). I know that I constantly worry that I won't be able to conceive. I can also totally sympathize with you about finding time to BD. My schedule is fine but DH is really busy right now. The fertility monitor sounds like a good investment for you. (This cycle I'm trying an OPK for the first time).

Stay positive! Hopefully your stay here will be a short one. This board is long overdue for a
