Icon11 Metformin sickness!!!

How long does this last? I took Metformin 2 mos. ago and got pg the first round. I forgot how bad the nausea was bc the pg. I mc and once again I am taking my first round. I am up to 2 pills a day (1000 mg). Next week I will be on 1500. Any suggestions how to overcome this bump in the road. What are some of the side effects you all have experienced? I just need support to get through this. I know it will go away. Ha! Ha!

Thanks,

Hmmm...I've never taken metformin, so I don't know how the side effects feel. But I can tell you the tricks I use with any med that makes me sick. If possible I try to take the medicine at night, right before I go to bed so the side effects will pass during the night. Also, it helps if you can eat a meal, and then take the medicine about 20-30 minutes later. That makes it less likely to upset your stomach. This works when I have to give my cat medicine too!

I know we have some ladies on here that are on met, hopefully they can give you some help. Good luck!

I found that eating many small portions and making sure my stomac was never completly empty helped alot and keep a tube of soda crackers close (I take 1900mg). I still get nausea but that 's ofthen caused by eating something that has too much sugar.

Hope this helps.
