My doctor put me on metformin, I'm taking 500 mg for a week, then 1000 mg for a week, then 1500 mg. She said that she likes to put people with PCOS on it for a few months before starting clomid and this would give me a chance to see if it would help my cycles on my own. Although she never actually said she thinks I have PCOS... In the meanwhile I'm supposed to try to lose some weight, although she said it's not a requirement, just a suggestion. So that's my plan for now.

3/08 100mg clomid cd3-7, no follicles, cycle cancelled
4/08 - 150mg clomid cd3-7, u/s on cd14, 1 follicle @ 24mm, trigger shot on cd14 and timed bd,
5/08 - HSG looks good
6/08 - gonal-f (75iu PM starting cd3), HCG, and IUI. cd7 u/s - 2 follies @10 each

I was wondering where you had been!! That is what my Dr. (RE) did also and it really helped to make me have a cycle and regulate it also!! GOOD LUCK!!

Hey Lisa my Re did the same thing over 2 months ago and last month I o'd on my own and had a perfect 14 day LP which I had never had before. So the Met does work btw my RE confirmed PCOS with Insulin Resistance here, Good Luck with the Met and and for a for you very soon!!

I think that is great news! I have a friend who did fertility tx and had 2 m/c and when she finally went on Metformin she got pg on her own and had a beautiful baby. I hope it works for you!

Thanks, ladies. It helps me to hear success stories! I have a lot of hope for this, if for no other reason than it will make the clomid more effective. I will be upping my dosage to 1000 mg tomorrow, I haven't had any digestive problems that metformin is infamous for so I've been lucky. I had lots of EWCM over the past week but I don't know what's going on since I'm not temping. If I get AF on my own, I will definitely start back up again.

Hey Lisa,

My dr. also put me on mets. but i uped my dose every month insted of every week. Once you get started on it good it really helps to get you started Oing on your own and get you on the right track. I still never thought I would get preg. on it even though I was having a 12 to 14 day cycle. My ex DH and I seperated and got a divorce but I stayed on the mets becasue I like knowing when AF was going to show up. I meet my soon to be DH and I was preg. in no time at all and i'm now due in 5 weeks and 3 days. Ex DH had a low sperm count and thats why I never got pg with him. So don't give up trust me it will happen when the time is rite.

I go back tomorrow for my 4th ultra sound and will post on that tomorrow and let everybody know how that went.
