Lurker from BBC board with Question

Hey everyone,

I am no longer bfing but do have a question that many of you from the BBC board have knowledge regarding. I weaned DS almost 2 years ago and immediately went from the mini pill to regular bcps. I stopped taking the bcps last May and have had crazy cycles since. My MD thinks I am generally not ovulating, or ovulating much too late. He doesn't think there is a problem with my P. Every 2 WW I feel pg symptoms just to get a BFN. Well this cycle I took 50mg of clomid cd 3 - 7. At my u/s at cd 11, (earlier than expected b/c of the Easter holiday), my MD said I probably would not ovulate and had a minisule chance of getting pg this cycle based on my follicle activity. Well on cd 15, I started having horrible pain, tenderness at my c section scar, fertile cm tinged just slightly with blood. I am no longer charting b/c it has just been too emotionally painful month after month, so I don't know what my temps would say, but my mind says I ovulated. Now I am cd 21 and I feel some more tenderness at the c section scar, mild cramping, etc. I had these symptoms last month too, but then started spotting and got af. I feel like these symptoms are just in my mind and no longer expect to get pregnant.

So, my question is - has anyone ever had an u/s at cd 11 that showed no follicular activity and went on to ovulate and get pg that cycle? And does anyone have any insight into what may be going on? Before the clomid I was having tons of bleeding all throught the cycle. That has not happened this cycle, which is a great improvement. My MD has already given my the Rx for 100md of clomid for next cycle.

YEs it happens often
A girl that I found on the FF circles was taking Femara--went in to get her hcg trigger and was told there was no need because there were no eggies. THen a few days later she got a +opk and she o'd AND she was pg. Sooooo there is hope!! HOwever if you are not pg Ihope they are planning to increase your C. Oh and my personal experience. I took 50 mg of C 2 mo--no O. I took 100 mg of C--my doc did not do a preO u/s but checked my P at cd21--she said no O and I would go on to 150 mg of C. Well I was pg that cycle so what do those docs know????

Thanks for the response. We went on vacation to Myrtle Beach last Thursday - just got back. And of course Friday am af showed. And I was completely unprepared. Started my next round of clomid on Sunday - took my last pills today. My u/s is next Tuesday so I am praying for better results. I can't just stop ovulating all together at 37 years of age - can I? I have been off the pill for a whole year now with no luck! Hopefully this cycle wil be it.

I don't think that you would stop oing already. The pill can def throw things off though. Let us know how the us goes!!!

I went for my cd u/s on Tuesday and I had a follicle on the right ovary that was 16mm. So, my doctor is considering me a clomid failure. He would have liked to see at least 20mm. Instead of putting me on 150 mg of clomid next month, he gave me an rx for Fermara. He thinks this will do the trick. He also advised me not to do any research on the ddrug, b/c if I did what I read would scare me. I know you have probably done a lot of reading on the subject and I was curious if you would give me the shortened version of the pros and cons. He said the biggest issue was there were no long term studies on the effects on the fetus. He also said that 5 years from know clomid will be a thing of the past and fermara will be the drug of choice.

Jenn--there is a great Femara board here with lots of info as it pertains to ttc. 16 is not that small--what cd were you? Anyway I like F MUCH better than C. It does not dry up cm and it does not give me the s/e that clomid did. There is a problem with taking it if pg but unlike Clomid--F is suppose to leave your body quickly so that by the time you get pg the F will be gone and not leave any lasting results. Now if you get your period--but it is actually implantation bleeding--and then take the F again--then you might have some issues so you need to make sure you are not pg when you go to take it again. I also thought it worked better than the C for me. What mg of F did he give? They give it in 2.5 and 5mg. I take the 5mg and I hope that is what they gave you--since the C already did not work. FOr lots of women C works and F won't and then for many it is the other way around. I did C for two months before I did F with baby #3 and I got pg my first cycle with the F. However I am on cycle #2 with F this time and I am not pg soooooo sometimes it works and sometimes it does not. here is a link to the F board ... Femara - SheKnows Message Boards

Oh and there are also girls on the F board who went for their u/s(while taking F) were told the eggs were too small so they were not given the trigger shot and then ended up oing on their own AND getting pg so this cycle is not completely out for you just yet either!!!

Thanks for the info! My follicle was 16mm at cd 12. My MD wanted to see it about 20mm. He really wants me to o between cd 14 - 16. He didn't think that 16mm at 12cd with 100mg of clomid was a good response. He gave me a script for 2.5 mg of femara. We have not had very well timed bd this month and I feel generally discouraged, so I don't know what will happen next. I am not temping or opking, so I am unsure if I have even o'd yet on cd 17. I know everything will happen in God's perfect timing, so I am trying to be patient (not one of my strong suits). Something interesting did happen during the u/s. He saw some fluid in my tube and thought it may be an etopic - so he did an hcg which was negative. The day after the u/s I had the normal midcycle bleeding I have been having every month around the time I should o. So, I guess the fluid he saw was blood. Why would this be happening every month. I have done some research on midcycle bleeding and asked my MD. He really doesn't think its a problem with P. Any thoughts on midcycle bleeding?

Anyway - I am sorry I am rambling. Sorry that this wasn't your month. I pray the next one is it!

I've notice a LOT of mid-cycle bleeding on FF chart galleries. Just as many in the pregnant charts as the non-pregnant ones. So, I don't think it is likely any problem at all. I have never had it, but I know plenty of women who do. Just one day of streaked CM or spotting usually. If it is extended bleeding that lasts for more than 2 days, then maybe I'd want to get hormone levels checked.

I don't usually O until CD17-20 myself, If at all lately. Plus I have a short cycle anyway (21-25 days on average and as low as 17 last cycle). You seem better off than me. ;-) I *think* I Oed yesterday or today this cycle though (on CD 17 now), so wish me a long LP, and I'll send you some egg-ripening dust. :-D

My MD is really reluctant to do any hormone testing other than thyroid at this point. He said obviously my hormones are a mess, otherwise I would be o'ing. He also said that once the meds get me to o then my hormones should fall back into their previous pattern.

I have been bleeding for 5 days now. At first it was like light af, but now just fertile cm streaked with blood. I am feeling very heavy and crampy along the c section line, so hopefully I have o'd and this is it.

Quick update - af showed today after a very symptomatic 2 ww. I am shocked that I am not pg. I had lots of cramping as early as 3dpo. I have had tender breasts too. I filled my new Rx and am ready. My 12 day u/s is May 12th. Wish me luck!

Are you temping? Are your temps down? F is notorious for very heavy implant bleeding in some. I do know what you mean though--I had all the symptoms last month too. Ughhh!! I say take a test just in case to make sure you are not pg before you start your new round of F. I have my 12 day u/s today.

This is af after my 100mg clomid cycle. After my 50mg clomid cycle, I started bleeding 8 dpo and bled very heavy for 4 days. We were in Myrtle Beach and it was a mess. This cycle on 100 mg I started spotting 10dpo, had light af 11dpo and then last night overnight had very heavy bleeding. I used 2 super tampons in a 8 hour timeframe overnight. Today 12dpo very little bleeding. I also have a wicked sharp pain in my left ovary overnight and actually woke up from the pain. I have been taking lots of advil b/c of the pain. I had to work a baby fair today and be happy and perky so I needed some meds to take the edge off the pain. I am supposed to start the F tomorrow, but maybe I should take a pg test before. These symptoms have been very weird - although I can't imagine being pregnant after bleeding the way I did last night. Maybe m/c though. I will go to Food LIon in the morning after church and get a pg test and see what happens.
