Icon5 Help/Question

Hi Everyone:
I posted the below on TTC after loss; but, I though you gals might be able to help too.

I had my MC on Jan 21st. I am still nursing my 16.5 month old. My cycles have been crazy since. The first was 21 days but the rest have been closer to 40 days. I have been taking OPK and it seems like I never ovulate. Does it take longer to get your cycle back to normal if you are nursing? Anyone have any insight? I am also 39.
TIA
Judi

After my second child, my cy had this 40+ day pattern for a long time. Probably between the m/c and the bf your body is just taking a while to get back into the swing of things. I never used opk while bf for just the reason that my cy were sooooo long, and it is possible to miss the surge anyway. Have you tried temping? That might be a better indicator of if you are ovulating or not. At any rate, I hope your cy straighten themselves out soon!

Thanks Shannon!
My problem with temping is that I never get 4 consecutive hrs of sleep. We co-sleep with DS and he nurses 1-2 times still at night.

I think just about everyone here can relate to that! I kept my thermometer in my pillowcase and just took it before getting out of bed each day, whether I was sleeping or just snuggling with baby. While the temps were pretty jagged, I still noticed a pattern after a couple of cy. My pre-o temps ranged from 97-98.4, and post o temps were from 98.4-99.5. I also checked cp and cm to verify when o probably occured.

Alrighty then. I'll start temping. When is the first day you start; the first day of AF?

Well, you are suppose to start on cd 1, when af starts, but a lot of us who are still waiting for ppaf are temping anyway. So I guess it's really your choice, lol.

I also never get 4 hrs of sleep but my temps were pretty acurate if I took them at the approx. at the time whether or not I have slept. The only problem I had is trying to take my temp and BF at the same time. He tries to grab it. My cycles at first were also long and then got shorter within a few months. However, some ladies keep a longer cycle while BF. I would imagine they would go back the way they were before you got prego with your little angel.
