Ah... good question! One thing I've noticed, no two women are the same!

For me...never had ppaf after #1! We caught that first eggie. #1 ds was about 14 months.

After #2 was a mess. #2 bf until he was almost 4. Had off and on breakthrough bleeding from about 24 months pp until I got fed up and saw dr a year later. He had me try charting to see what my messed up cy were doing, and if
I was even o-ing... well, we got a that first chart, lol.

Ppaf came about 18 to 20 months after #s 3 and 4.

Now here I am, 11 months and still no sign of .

So I guess I average a year and a half to two years. Really, though, it was basically when bf stopped. Which I don't plan on doing any time soon, lol.

But I seem to be the exception 'round here.

With Logan it was right before he turned 6 months old (exclusively bf).
With Lance it was around 7 1/2 months.

With each of mine AF returned at 4 months (only BF). It was light for a few months and has just returned back to normal at 7 months with this last child.

Tanya, I hope it does happen sooner than later for you. I also want to get prego before my DS is 1. However, I will never wean him just to get prego. I promised myself I would give him at least a year if he wanted it.

AF came back at 14 months with my first DD and at 13 months with my second DD. I was only bf'ing once or twice a day at that point.

With Alex AF came back at 7 months PP. He was exclusively breastfeeding, no pacifiers or bottles and nursing several times at night. Julianna is now almost 19 months and still no AF. I do get fertile CM on occasion and I have had a few spotting episodes but AF has stayed away. I hope that AF stays away but I have a feeling she will be back soon.

On average, if you are biologically breastfeeding, AF returns between 15 and 17 months PP. Of course some have a theory that the older you are the more quickly AF returns so you can keep having more babies before it is too late. I don't know that there is much truth in that though.

There are many things that can affect the return of AF; bottle use, pacifier use, pumping, sleeping through the night, introduction of solids. In some cultures it is considered accurate to use BF'ing as a method of birth control until 9 months or longer PP (this is in cultures where babies are nursing numerous times per day and not just every 2-3 hours). In these cultures it is normal to see a 4 or more year age difference between children. A childs immune system is not fully developed until sometime between the ages of about 4-6 years so it kind of makes sense that AF would stay away so the child would continue to nurse.

Still there are women who get AF back at 6 weeks PP while exclusively breastfeeding. This is such a fascinating subject to me. Can you tell? LOL
