Icon5 When to start CIO?

I am a first time mom, and my son is now 2 mos old. He usually will eat a full meal at 7pm or so and about 2 hours later have either another full meal or close to it.

He is usually waking about 1 or 2 a.m., eating 1-2 oz (which is more of a snack) and again at 4-4:30 a.m. and again eating only 1-2 oz.

Are these feedings necessary or are they just comfort feedings? Is it too early to start the CIO method with one of the feedings and eventually use it with the second?

Not sure if if I'm just being impatient

TIA

I think the absolute earliest I've read recommended was Weissbluth, and I think he recommends starting CIO at 13 weeks. Hang in there!

Two months is too early to start any cio. If you don't think Ian's hungry at those other times, you can go in and comfort him and try to get him to sleep another way, maybe with a paci instead, but really Ian's doing great for his age.

I agree, it's too early to be thinking about CIO at this point. Four months is the absolute earliest, but some people have had better success waiting until 5 or 6 months.

Don't stress yourself (or Ian) out by starting now - it is too early! Wait until like 5 or 6 mos. I made the mistake of starting at like 3 months and it made us both so unhappy. Good luck and enjoy this time... it is hard, but he will grow so fast!
