Need Some Support...
I have a 5 1/2 month old baby who is very sleep deprived. Her routine is - sleep from 11:30-12 to around 6 AM, nurse and sleep for another 30-60 minutes, then have a 30 minute nap around 12-1, and a 40-75 minute nap around 6 when she's so exhausted she finally has to give in and nap. The 12 pm morning nap is often skipped.
Our pediatrician recommended Dr. Weissbluth's book and I really liked it in theory but in practice it's killing me. Yesterday I put her down for a nap at 10 am and she cried for an hour, at which point I picked her up. She refused to nap until after 5, at which point she slept until 6:45, and went to sleep at 11:30. This morning I decided to try again. Her last wakeup was after 8 so I put her down at 11 and now she's still crying, I bawled my eyes out for a while too...right now she's quite after 50 minutes so I'll go check, she might be asleep...
I don't know if I can go ahead with this. She was a colicky baby and she's very clingy and high strung, and hates being anywhere but home. I know I should try for an early night, but she naps so late in the afternoon, I'm not sure how to work it. Also, her crib is still in our room, I was planning on moving her but I don't know if it's a good idea to let her cry in a strange room.
I'll greatly appreciate any tips and support!
