Icon9 Need Help With Un-training??

SOMEONE ON ANOTHER BOARD TOLD ME TO USE THIS ONE TO HELP WITH MY PROBLEM... MY DAUGHTER IS FOURTEEN MONTHS OLD AND SHE HAS ONLY SLEPT ALL NIGHT, BY HERSELF!, TWO OR THREE TIMES. SHE WAKES AFTER THREE OR FOUR HOURS AND WILL NOT GO BACK TO SLEEP UNLESS HER DAD BRINGS HER IN THE BED WITH US. I KNOW THATS THE WRONG THING TO DO BUT BOTH OF US ARE WORKING AT LEAST 45 HOURS A WEEK AND JUST WANT TO SLEEP!! PLEASE HELP WITH UNTRAINING HER. WE TRIED THE CIO A FEW TIMES BUT ALWAYS RELENT DUE TO THE CONTINUOUS CRIES(3-4 HOURS STRAIGHT) PLEASE REPLY WITH SUGGESTIONS

Welcome to the board!

I'm sorry to hear that you are having sleep issues with your daughter. Will you please post a schedule of her day? Does she have a night routine and a nap routine? This might help me to give advice.

Have you read the informational links on the board and/or have you ever read a sleep training book?

Sorry to ask so many questions. I will watch this thread for a follow up post from you.

Yes, I second what Kristen said ... what is her schedule? You may want to read up on Weissbluth's book before you attempt to Sleep Train.

This is just a thought...Could it be possible that your daughter just wants to be close to you? If you and Dh are both working over 45 hours a week maybe your daughter just feels like she needs to be close to you while she sleeps because she can't be near the both of you during the day?

Are you opposed to co-sleeping? Children Love and NEED to be close to their parents. Perhaps this is her way of saying she needs to be near you?

I hope you have better luck getting her to have a solid night's sleep!!
