Default Nap help!

My DD is almost 9 months. Her schedule has just changed from a 3 nap day to a 2 nap day. Well, it was like that for a week. Lately, she doesn't want to nap longer than 45 minutes, so she ends up cranky if she only gets 2 naps. I really want her to get (2) 1.5-2 hour naps in each day. How do I get her to extend her nap? She woke up this morning at 7, went down for a nap at 9:45 and woke up at 10:30. She's been crying off and on for the last 30 minutes. I did go check on her once, but that just made her cry harder. Any suggestions or do I just stick with what I'm doing and eventually it'll get better?

I can only suggest you read the book that helped me a ton!! "Good Night, Sleep Tight" by Kim West. Naps should be 1.5-2hrs long....anywhere up to 6 months they will nap up to 3 times a day for a total of 5 hours. At 9 months I would think 2 naps is normal, however, she should be napping for 1.5-2 hrs at a time....you can also look at the message board for Kim West at www.sleeplady.com for advice....GOOD LUCK!!!

Hopefully things have gotten better...I'd try putting her down a little bit earlier and see if that helps. Even at 9 months, I tried to stick with that 2 hour window awake time for the morning nap. You might also want to try keeping her in there for a set amount of time and see if that helps. Just to let you know though, anytime my DD's sleeping schedule changed, we always went through a period of adjustment and it felt like things got worse before they got better. Hopefully you're now on the upswing.
