Default I have to start from scratch....warning - long post!!

Hello everyone,

I posted a couple of months ago, very pleased that I had CIO'd with my son and it worked.

Well, he's now 11 months, and everything has gone wrong. With the holidays, we were very busy, and to top it off, my son spend two weeks going back and forth between my house and my mother's because we had people over from Italy.

Just to let everyone know, I used to be able to put my son down to sleep around 8pm with his eyes open, and he would settle down to sleep on his own. He was waking up once, sometimes twice a night. But whenever he woke up, I would change his diaper, give him a bottle, and with his eyes open, I would lay him down in his crib, and he would fall asleep on his own.

That's no longer the case.

My son REFUSES to sleep without me or anyone else rocking him....it takes anywhere from 15-45 mins to get him to fall asleep. If i put him down in his crib, he immediatley stands up and no matter how many times I lay him back down on his back, he still stands up. I tried letting him CIO a few times, but it doesn't work....he just stands up in his crib, and he refuses to settle down.

Same thing during the night - he wakes up, and he will not go back to sleep unless someone holds him and rocks him.

If he lays down in his crib, it's only because I'm in the room with him....he'll start to close his eyes, but will only fall asleep if I'm in the room...if I leave the room, he'll start crying and again, he'll stand up and won't settle down.

I am in desperate need of some help ladies - i go back to work on Monday, and I'm not sure how i'll be able to handle getting up at night with him, and rocking him back to sleep, since it takes anywhere from 30 mins to an hour to get him to fall asleep again, and I have to be up for work by 6am.

I'd appreciate any advice - any at all!!! Like i said, I'm willing to let him CIO, but it doesn't work any more, since all he does is stand up in his crib when I leave the room.

Thanks for letting me rant ladies.

Ugh! I am so sorry! When you initially cio'ed with your son how long did he cry? And how many days did it take? Have you tried that same pattern?

Do you think it is something that might work itself out? I know with Rebecca she was waking up all night long (literally) for about 3 weeks and then as suddenly as it started, it stopped.

I know you are looking for advice and I wish I had some for you, but all I have is a and a hope that you are able to get some sleep soon!
